The proposal has been sent for approval to the finance department. Transport minister Kailash Gahlot has stated that the penalty-waiver scheme is being brought in because the business of a lot of private bus operators and taxi drivers came to a complete standstill during lockdown and many could not resume operations even after unlocking owing to the city’s Covid-19 situation. He was hopeful that it will provide much-needed relief to the transporters of Delhi who pays an annual road tax.
