A fixed deposit without premature closure penalty has been announced by Axis Bank. This is for fixed deposits opened on or after 15 December 2020 and with a tenure of 2 years or more. This is to encourage customers to invest in long-term fixed deposits without worrying about liquidity. This is applicable if the premature withdrawal is after 15 months of opening the account. There is also no premature withdrawal penalty on the first withdrawal for an amount that is equivalent to up to 25% of the principal amount deposited with the bank.
