How to Get a Registration Certificate in RTO Uttar Pradesh? 

Follow the steps given below to get RC in Uttar Pradesh: 

1. Visit your nearest RTO office and fill in Form 20. 

2. Submit the required documents such as address proof, identity proof, road worthiness certificate, insurance paper and other necessary documents. 

3. Pay the required fees and the other charges. 

4. The RTO will complete the inspection and issue the vehicle registration certificate.

Steps to Renew Registration Certificate in RTO UP 

The RC of a vehicle is valid for 15 years. After that you need to renew it within 60 days of its expiry. Given below are the simple steps by which you can renew your RC. 

  • Visit the local RTO and fill the Form25. 
  • Submit all the required documents and pay the renewal fees. 
  • Your permanent RC will be renewed for five years once your vehicle inspection is completed. 

Documents required for Transfer Vehicle Ownership in Uttar Pradesh 

To transfer the ownership of vehicle, here are the documents required: 

  1. Form 29 and Form 30  
  1. Original Registration Certificate (RC) 
  1. Valid Insurance Certificate 
  1. No Objection Certificate (NOC), if the vehicle is registered outside Uttar Pradesh

Road Tax in Uttar Pradesh for Different Vehicles 

Here are the road tax rates for different types of vehicles in Uttar Pradesh: 

  • Road Tax for Two-Wheelers in Uttar Pradesh: For mopeds with a light, the road tax is Rs.150. If the two-wheeler costs up to Rs.20,000, the tax is 2% of the vehicle’s price. For vehicles priced between Rs.20,001 and Rs.60,000, the tax rate is 4%. If the cost is between Rs.60,001 and Rs.2 lakh, the tax is 6%. For two-wheelers priced above Rs.2 lakh, the road tax is 8% of the vehicle’s price. 
  • Road Tax for Four-Wheelers in Uttar Pradesh: For cars priced up to Rs.6 lakh, the road tax is 3% of the vehicle’s price. If the car’s price is between Rs.6 lakh and Rs.10 lakh, the tax rate increases to 6%. For vehicles costing between Rs.10 lakh and Rs.20 lakh, the tax is 8%, and for cars above Rs.20 lakh, the tax rate is 9% of the car’s price. 
  • Road Tax for Commercial Vehicles: Vehicles with a capacity of up to 1 ton are charged Rs.665. Those between 1 and 2 tons pay Rs.940, while vehicles between 2 and 4 tons pay Rs.1,430. For capacities of 4 to 6 tons, the tax is Rs.1,915, and for 6 to 8 tons, it is Rs.2,375. Vehicles carrying between 8 and 9 tons pay Rs.2,865, and those between 9 and 10 tons pay Rs.3,320. For vehicles exceeding 10 tons, the tax is Rs.3,320 plus an additional Rs.470 for every extra ton.
