While applying for a permanent DL, applying for a duplicate DL is important as well. A duplicate DL is a backup of your original licence in case the latter gets lost, damaged or stolen.
If your original DL is lost or damaged, you will need to apply for a duplicate driving licence within 6 months from the date of loss.
