Form 36 for Issue of a Fresh Certificate of Registration

In case you have purchased a vehicle under hypothecation, lease or hire-purchase agreement with the financer, and you fail to pay back the loan, then the financer takes possession of the vehicle. The financer will have to fill in and submit Form 36 at the Regional Transport Office to get the vehicle transferred in his name.

How to Fill Form 36?

Form 36 is divided into three parts. The first part consists of licencing authority's address, vehicle type and box to affix the applicant's photograph. In the second part you need to fill in personal details and the third part is the certificate of test of competence to drive.

  1. At the beginning of the form, you need to mention the Regional Transport Office under whose jurisdiction you want to get your vehicle registered
  2. After this, the financer needs to mention his name in the lease or hypothecation or hire-purchase agreement
  3. Fill in the vehicle registration number as mentioned on the original registration certificate
  4. In the next space, you need to mention the complete name and postal address of the original registered owner
  5. Next, the Financier declares whether they are enclosing the original Certificate of Registration or the owner has refused to surrender the same, or the owner is absconding. The applicant has to strike out whichever clause is inapplicable.
  6. In the last part, the financer will request the RTO officials to cancel the old registration certificate and issue a new one.
  7. After this, the financer signs the form along with date
