Expert view of the fund + outlook

Axis Long Term Equity Fund scheme aims to generate regular long term capital growth from a diversified equity and equity related securities. The scheme follows a top-down approach of equity selection. This scheme is ideal for saving on the tax outgo, for funding your child’s education and marriage and to plan for your retirement. This scheme is however not suitable for creating wealth, to meet short term and lifestyle needs. Another important thing that is to be considered is that it is locked in for 3 years. You can withdraw freely only after that period. The returns on this fund is tax free provided that you do not withdraw within 1 year. You can invest up to Rs.1 lakh a year in this fund and deduct the amount from your gross total income while computing your income tax. If you are a new investor skip this scheme for a better ELSS.

News About Axis Long Term Equity Fund

  • Aditya Birla Mutual Fund makes changes in few scheme attributes

To standardize the categories and characteristics of mutual fund schemes, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in October 2017 had released a circular to tackle the need for uniformity in the industry. The circular recommended a total of 36 sub-categories within the main categories of hybrid schemes, equity schemes, solution-oriented schemes, debt schemes, etc. It also stressed on mutual fund houses defining the market capitalisations in an exact manner by including only one scheme per sub-category, with a few exceptions.

Based on the circular released by the SEBI, Aditya Birla Mutual Fund have made some changes in the attributes of its schemes. The changes include investment objective, types of schemes, investment strategy, and asset allocation. Shareholders who are not in agreement with the changes made can switch/redeem their share units at applicable NAV without being charged any exit load.
