RTO Mizoram, or the Regional Transport Office in Mizoram, is a government organisation that issues driving licence and registration certificates for vehicles in the northeastern state of Mizoram. It oversees all road transport-related issues of Mizoram.

How to get a Registration Certificate in Mizoram? 

A vehicle owner must apply for a registration certificate within 7 days of buying in Mizoram. The process to apply for a registration certificate for your vehicle in Mizoram is easy. To apply, follow the steps given below: 

Step 1: Go to the RTO nearest to you. 

Step 2: Get the application form (Form 20) and fill out the details. 

Step 3: Submit the filled form to the RTO. 

Step 4: Provide the supporting documents. 

Step 5: Pay the registration fee and road tax. The registration fees for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and cars are Rs.600. 

Step 6: Bring your vehicle for inspection.

Step 2: Click on ‘Online Services’ and select ‘Motor Vehicles’ 

Step 3: You will be redirected to the VAHAN app, and here you can provide your RTO.

Step 5: Type your details and hit submit. 

Step 6: Your registration certificate details will appear on the screen.

How to Renew a Registration Certificate in Mizoram? 

Once the validity of the registration certificate expires after 15 years, you must renew it within 60 days of the expiry date. To renew a registration certificate, you can fill out Form 25 and submit it along with the other supporting documents to the RTO. The support documents include the RC book, insurance certificate, registration certificate, PUC certificate, proof of road tax payment, and a copy of PAN. To complete the renewal process, you can pay the tax and fees according to the CMV (Central Motor Vehicle) rules. After an inspection of the vehicle, the registration certificate will be renewed for 5 years. 

Ownership Transfer in Mizoram 

Ownership transfer refers to transferring a vehicle from one individual to another. You can transfer the ownership of a vehicle after the previous owner passes away, either in a normal sale or under auction. To transfer ownership of a vehicle, the following documents are needed:

Step 2: Click on ‘Online Services’ 

Step 3: Select ‘Other Services’ 

Step 4: Click on ‘Tax and Fee’
