Star Netplus Insurance Plan

A special policy catering to HIV positive persons who are, more often than not, socially isolated and disowned by family members across the country. The will be paid to the insured person only if it is proposed by Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), government agencies or registered societies involved in the care and treatment of HIV-infected persons. The HIV Care Policy can be issued to a group of persons already infected with the disease. Covered patients must, however, be members of the proposer.

Lumpsum
  • Lumpsum is paid if the stage of AIDS experienced by the person is the first incidence and symptoms appear after 90 days of the commencement of the policy
  • Only one lumpsum will be paid to the insured person in his or her lifetime. The cover will then be terminated and not renewed
Claims Procedure
  • The claimant has to undergo the confirmatory test for AIDS (CD4 count test or other relevant tests as suggested by the panel doctor).
  • Claim can be made if the CD4 count is less than the medically prescribed levels for the first time and continues for the next 60 days, following which, the person is declared to suffering from AIDS.

  • Expenses incurred in treating HIV

  • Expenses incurred for the treatment of tuberculosis and gastroenteritis
  • Expenses incurred on treatment of cataract, Hysterectomy, Joint Replacement Surgery etc within the first two policy years
  • Treatment of diseases/injuries sustained due to war, riots, or public commotion
  • Dental procedures, spectacles, contact lens, naturopathy treatment etc.
