Apply for the National Highway Authority of India's (NHAI) 'FASTag,' an electronic toll collection card made mandatory by the Government of India for all vehicles passing through toll plazas if you're a frequent traveller and want to make toll payments at toll plazas immediately. Developed by NHAI, FASTag allows money to be deducted from your account each time your vehicle crosses a toll plaza, making it essential to check your balance regularly to avoid inconvenience.
HDFC customers can easily check their FASTag balance by following a few simple steps. HDFC FASTag is a compact, reloadable card enabling automatic toll deduction from the linked bank account as you drive through toll plazas on national highways. This contactless toll collection method facilitates cashless transactions, promotes balance checking online, and helps prevent long queues at toll plazas.
As a vehicle owner, FASTag lets you pay tolls digitally without stopping at toll plazas. This system includes a prepaid wallet that needs to be recharged when the balance is low. If you pass through a FASTag-enabled toll plaza without enough balance, you will incur a penalty. To prevent this, it's essential to check your FASTag balance regularly. Here's how you can check your FASTag balance using your vehicle number.

HDFC FASTag is connected to the customer's prepaid account. Once activated, this rectangular tag is affixed to the vehicle's windscreen. Toll plaza devices use Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to read the unique FASTag number. As the vehicle passes through dedicated FASTag lanes, the readers automatically debit the linked wallet account for the toll charges.
There is no specific minimum balance requirement for maintaining an HDFC Bank FASTag. However, the minimum amount you can recharge into your FASTag wallet is Rs. 100. You have the flexibility to choose the recharge amount based on your convenience and travel needs.
Upon completion of your full Know Your Customer (KYC) formalities, any remaining balance in your FASTag account will be refunded to you. Within seven working days of closing the account, you will receive a demand draft for the balance amount. Alternatively, if your FASTag wallet is linked to an HDFC Bank Savings or Current Account, the remaining balance will be transferred to that linked account.
In the event of an erroneous deduction from your FASTag balance, you can promptly notify HDFC Bank. You have the option to either contact the customer care number or log in to your FASTag account to report the incorrect deduction. Our team will thoroughly review your request, and if it is deemed genuine, we will initiate a refund of the deducted amount.
