• New Car Launches in 2020

    In terms of car launches, 2019 was a remarkable year with car models such as Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona Electric, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Kicks, etc., being launched. Seems like car manufacturers are gearing up for new launches in 2020 with car models such as Kia Karnival, Skoda Octavia RS 245, Tata Gravitas, Tata Nexon EV, and Skoda Karoq.

    1. Kia Karnival

    The Kia Karnival is likely to be launched in February 2020 and the bookings for it are already open. Some of the features of the Kia Karnival have been listed below:

    • It will be available in 3 variants – Premium, Prestige, and Limousine.
    • The Kia Karnival is a luxury MPV with multiple seating configurations – 7, 8, and 9.
    • The 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, VGT diesel engine of the Kia Karnival is BS 6 compliant. The engine can produce a power of 200 PS and 440 Nm of torque.
    • The powertrain of the Kia Karnival is offered with 8-speed Sportsmatic transmission.
    • Some of the features of the Kia Karnival are dual panel electric sunroof, LED projection headlamps, tiger nose grille, 18-inch sputtering finish alloy wheels, 10.1-inch dual touchscreen rear-seat entertainment system, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, auto defog windscreen, etc.

    2. Skoda Octavia RS 245

    The Skoda Octavia RS 245 is likely to be launched in India at the Auto Expo 2020 to be held in Delhi. It may be priced at Rs.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and will exhibit the below-given features:

    • The Skoda Octavia RS 245 will be powered by a 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that can produce 245 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque.
    • It can attain a top speed of 250 km per hour and can cover 0 to 100 km in 6.6 seconds.
    • The Octavia RS 245 features blacked out ORVMs, LED DRLs, black grille, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, etc.
    • The suspension setup of the Octavia RS 245 will be sportier.
    • Only 200 units of the Octavia RS 245 will be launched in India.

    3. Tata Gravitas

    The Tata Gravitas is expected to launch on 10 February 2020 and is likely to be priced at Rs.15 lakh. Some of the probable features that the Tata Gravitas may exhibit are given below:

    • The 2.0-litre diesel engine of the Tata Gravitas will produce a power of 140 PS and 350 Nm of torque.
    • The Tata Gravitas is likely to have a seating capacity of 7.
    • Steering-mounted controls, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, faux wood inserts, will feature in the Tata Gravitas.
    • The engine of the Tata Gravitas may be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
    • The design language of the Gravitas will be the same as the Tata Harrier but the former will be longer and taller.

    4. Tata Nexon EV

    The Tata Nexon EV will be launched on 28 January 2020 and will be based on Tata’s Ziptron technology. The Nexon EV is expected to be priced in the range between Rs.15 lakh and Rs.17 lakh and will have the following features:

    • The Tata Nexon EV will use a permanent magnet AC motor powered by a Lithium-Ion battery which is IP67 certified and liquid-cooled.
    • The 30.2 kWh battery of the Tata Nexon EV can offer a maximum range of more than 300 km on a single charge.
    • The Tata Nexon EV can clock triple digit speeds in 9.9 seconds and its powertrain can produce 245 Nm of peak torque.
    • On the safety front, the Tata Nexon EV will be equipped with dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, Anti-lock braking system (ABS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt reminder, etc.
    • The Tata Nexon EV is likely to be offered only in one variant.

    5. Skoda Karoq

    The Skoda Karoq is a mid-sized sedan likely to be launched in the Indian market by April 2020. Some of the likely features of the Skoda Karoq are given below:

    • The Skoda Karoq will be offered in 3 diesel and 2 petrol engine options.
    • The expected price of the Skoda Karoq is Rs.18 lakh to Rs.25 lakh.
    • The Skoda Karoq may be offered with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) or 6-speed manual.
    • A new 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbocharged petrol engine and the 2.0 -litre TDI engine is likely to power the Skoda Karoq.
