A "low interest" loan shouldn't mean you have very little interest in paying it back!
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Surat

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY - Urban), also known as Housing for All, is an initiative launched by the Government of India to provide affordable housing to the urban poor. The plan will be implemented in more than 300 cities in India and one of those cities is Surat. The response to the PMAY scheme has been overwhelming, as thousands of people throughout the country have already submitted their applications to avail benefits and subsidies.

People of Gujarat, particularly Surat, have welcomed the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana with open arms. In fact, the state government is now going to construct 5,000 new houses, in addition to the 8,000 housing units that are already under construction in the city. The Metropolitan Municipality of Surat has prepared a detailed project report in order to implement the housing scheme successfully. As of April 2017, Surat Municipal Corporation, along with Surat Development Urban Authority, have together completed more than 2000 DUs.

More than 55,000 applications have been received by the government for those 8,000 units and it is now in the process of allocating the houses to eligible candidates. Since it is expected that the applications will increase in the coming weeks, the government is quite likely to allot the additional 5,000 houses too. This gives a chance to those people who missed on applying for the housing units and subsidies under the PMAY the first time.
