Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) is a housing initiative launched by the Government of India in 2015. The goal of this mission is to provide affordable housing to the urban poor of the country, including the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low Income Groups (LIG), and Middle Income Groups (MIG) by 2022. Since its inception, the scheme has proven itself to be a big hit among the general population.

Over the course of last two years, thousands of applications have been received by the government and this number is bound to increase in the coming years. People from MP too, have responded superbly to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For instance, the city of Jabalpur is going to get 15,000 new houses in the next three years. These housing units are quite affordable as they are meant for candidates belonging to EWS, LIG & MIG. The construction of these houses is already in progress. Similarly, the MPHIDB is also going to construct 461 housing units meant for EWS and LIG in Shivpuri.
The construction is in full swing in the state capital, Bhopal as well. More than 1,800 residential units are already under construction as a part of the PMAY Madhya Pradesh scheme.
