    Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Uttar Pradesh

    The Government of India has launched a housing for all initiative, known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. As per this scheme, the government will be providing affordable housing units to the urban poor in India through subsidy schemes and other benefits. Uttar Pradesh is one of the nine states that has been chosen for the plan.

    The state government is already firing on all cylinders to provide affordable housing to people belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low Income Groups (LIG) and Middle Income Groups (MIG).

    For example, the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA Uttar Pradesh) has already approved the construction of thousands of housing units throughout the state.

    These units will be constructed under the Beneficiary led Construction scheme (BLC), as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Uttar Pradesh. To list a few statistics, the city of Allahabad has had more than 6,000 housing projects sanctioned under the BLC plan. Similarly, in the holy city of Varanasi, more than 8,000 projects have been approved.

    Similarly, the state government has launched the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, which is aimed only at those living below the poverty line. The main objective of this plan is to provide housing to the poor people in the state. Moreover, the central and state government will provide financial help to the beneficiaries.

    Needless to mention, there are certain eligibility criteria which have to be fulfilled in order to successfully avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Uttar Pradesh. These conditions can be found in the paragraphs mentioned below.

    Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Uttar Pradesh Eligibility Criteria

    The PMAY - Urban scheme is directed primarily towards the people belonging to EWS, LIG and MIG. One of the components of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), under which the beneficiaries who have taken a home loan will get the subsidy on the interest payments. Keep in mind that if it’s a married couple that is applying for the subsidy, they will receive only one subsidy, irrespective of the ownership status of the property.

    The following table illustrates the household income conditions that have to be met, to get the subsidy.

    In addition to the CLSS, there are a few other components under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana that have been designed keeping the following criteria in mind:

    • The In Situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISSR) component is to be selected by those people who are living in slums
    • The Beneficiary led Construction component is to be chosen by those who own land/house and are interested in construction/extension.
    • The CLSS component is to be selected by those who can afford to purchase/construct/enhance house with the help of home loans
    • Lastly, there is the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component, which is selected when the applicant cannot afford a home loan or does not own any land

    People who have selected the ISSR component will get a grant of Rs. 1 lakh per housing unit from the government, while those who have opted for the AHP and BLC components will get assistance in the form of Rs. 1.5 lakh per unit.

    While filling out the application form for the benefits of the scheme, it is important that you select the suitable component. However, there are certain conditions that have to be fulfilled before you even begin the process. They are:

    • You or your family must not own an all-weather house in any part of India
    • You or your family should not have taken assistance from the Government of India, under any housing-related scheme

    How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Uttar Pradesh

    If you reside in Uttar Pradesh and are looking to avail the features and benefits of the PMAY scheme, then the following are the steps that you need to follow:

    1. Visit the official website of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - http://pmaymis.gov.in/
    2. Click on ‘Citizen Assessment’ option
    3. You need to select the appropriate category. If you live in a slum, then you need to select ‘For Slum Dwellers’; otherwise, select ‘Benefit under other 3 components’
    4. You will then be directed to a page where you need to enter your Aadhaar number
    5. Upon successfully entering your Aadhaar number, a form will appear on the page that you need to fill correctly
    6. Lastly, type the captcha code in the box provided at the end of the page to successfully submit your application
    7. Alternately, you can also visit the official website of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), Uttar Pradesh at http://www.sudaup.org/ for more information.

    How to Track the Application Status of PMAY Uttar Pradesh

    After you have submitted your application online, you can track its status by performing the steps shown below:

    1. Visit the official PMAY site at http://pmaymis.gov.in/
    2. Click on ‘Citizen Assessment’ option
    3. Under the option, select ‘Track Your Assessment Status’
    4. Once you have selected this option, you will be asked to fill in the ‘Track Assessment Form’
    5. There are two ways to fill the form, as shown below:

    Type 1 - By Name, Father’s Name & ID Type

    If you select this type, you will have to enter the details like state name, district name, city name, et cetera, along with your name and mobile number. You also need to select the ID type and enter the corresponding number.

    Type 2 - By Assessment ID

    This option is easier as you have to enter only the Assessment ID and your mobile number.

    After submitting the details mentioned above, you will be able to track the status of your application successfully.

    Documents Required for PMAY Application

    The following are the documents that you need to submit, along with your duly filled in application form.

    • Identity Proof and Address Proof - These documents include PAN card, voter ID, Aadhaar card, driving license, valid passport, et cetera. For address proof, you can submit most recent utility bills like telephone bill, electricity bill and et cetera, along with any of the aforementioned documents.
    • Proof of Income - You need to submit income proof documents along with your application. These can be latest salary slips, Form 16, latest tax returns, or bank statement of the salaried account ranging over last six months. For self-employed, this can also include the balance sheet, self-attested financial statement and the profit and loss account.
    • Property documents - There is a long list of property documents that have to be furnished such as valuation certificate, approved plan of construction, Agreement of Sale, affidavit that the beneficiary’s family does not own an all-weather house in any part of the country, NOC from the housing society, receipt of advance payments, et cetera.
