    The auto market in India has undergone a considerable amount of change in the recent times. Gone are the days when you had to make compromises in terms of feature, styling, and safety of the vehicle if you are looking for a budget car. Automakers now know the needs of customers today and have started to focus more on the value for money quotient, giving the best possible features even in a budget car. It is because of this reason a number of segments are packed under the Rs.10 lakh mark. The price bracket includes vehicles ranging from entry-level hatchbacks to premium hatchbacks.

    1. Maruti Suzuki Dzire

    Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a compact sedan that was first launched in 2007. Released as the Swift Dzire, the car has been one of the best-selling compact sedans since its inception. Now renamed, the Dzire with its next generation model, the Dzire now comes with a much improved performance and is packed with a lot more features. The Swift tag was dropped from the vehicle in order to differentiate it from the popular hatchback. The model has also started to offer AMT across a number of different variants of the vehicle.

    To improve the differentiation, modifications have been made to the exterior of the vehicle where the Dzire now gets a design that resembles the Ciaz due to the fog lamp housing and the chrome inserts around the grille. The rear of the vehicle an all new design for the tail lamps which now come with LED inserts for indicators.

    Changes have been made to the interiors too, with an entirely new design by making use of plastics with better quality.     When the Ford EcoSport was first introduced, it was a compact SUV that did not come with much features and a vehicle that was difficult to maintain.     1. Hyundai Elite i20

    The premium hatchback of Hyundai has come back with an all-new avatar. The Korean automaker has come up with a new Elite i20 facelift in order to boost the sales for Hyundai in the country. The updated model has come with a lot of upgrades for both the exterior and interior of the vehicle. The Elite i20 is still powered by the existing engine options of the previous version of the car.

    The exterior of the vehicle has got numerable upgrades, with redesigned headlamps and a cascading grille to go with it.     The Tiago is the newest entry of Tata for the compact car segment that has been on the rise in the country lately. The midsize hatchback is a part of Tata’s effort to redefine their image as a more vibrant and modern automaker.     1. Honda Amaze

    The Amaze is the first ever compact sedan launched by Honda. With the other competitors in the compact sedan segment pushing ahead, Honda did not wait for the six-year lifecycle and has come up with an all new Amaze and was on display at the Auto Expo 2018.     1. Tata Tigor

    Tata has been looking for replacements for the successful Indigo eCS and the Indica for quite a while now. The car, Tigor, was launched with the idea of giving the customers the perfect value for money and provide the best possible features on a budget. The car will sit below the Tata Zest as the second compact sedan offered by the company. The Tigor is priced well below some of the other competitor vehicles in the sub-four metre sedan segment.

    The face of the vehicle has a lot of similarities with the Tata Tiago, with the smiley honeycomb grille on the fascia. The front bumper and the headlights also bear a lot of similarities to the Tata Tiago. Minor changes are there after the B-pillar in the car, which distinguish the Tigor from the Tiago. The boot is stubby and the tail lamps are similar to that of the Tiago.

    Everything about the interior design is similar to the Tiago. Even the layout of the instrument cluster bears a lot of similarities to the Tiago. The car comes with a black and grey dashboard.     1. Toyota Platinum Etios

    The Etios was first launched by Toyota in 2011. The car was one of the first budget cars made by Toyota, specifically made for the needs of the Indian market.     Mahindra has updated the KUV100 and has added it with a new NXT series. The NXT will come in five different variants and two engine options to go with it. There are color options to choose which include two dual tone schemes. Mahindra has packed the KUV100 NXT with features to ensure that the new update makes the car compete with the other major players in the same segment.

    One of the striking changes to the vehicle is that the new NXT comes with a completely new face. The car has a vertically stacked design and the headlamps have been given an all-new design. The front bumper has been changed from the conventional design to a more sporty one, giving the car a crossover appearance. The rear tail lamps have now become wider and now come with silver inserts. The alloy wheels used in the NXT now come with a new design.

    While the KUV100 NXT comes as a standard six-seater, there is also an option to order a five-seater car for both the fuel variants. The top spec variants of the car now get a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system which replaces the 2-DIN model that was in use before.     The 2018 model of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz launched in India recently and is set to take on Hyundai Verna and Honda City and comes in 11 different variants with two engine options available. Maruti Suzuki has added many additional features in this mid-life update of the Ciaz. The upgraded car will also debut an all-new petrol engine. The car will be available in seven different colours.
