Bihar made history by becoming the first state in India to let people vote with the help of a mobile app. This new method was used during the municipal elections held on 28 June 2025, in six areas across Patna, Rohtas, and East Champaran districts. The mobile voting system was created mainly for senior citizens, disabled people, pregnant women, and migrant workers. More than 10,000 voters registered to use the app, named "e-SECBHR", and more were expected. The app uses secure technology like facial recognition, digital scanning, and blockchain encryption to make voting safe. For more safety, a maximum of two voters were allowed to register on phone numbers. Moreover, voters also had to match their details with their voter ID to complete the process.
