How to use PhonePe for Income Tax payment

PhonePe introduces its new 'Income Tax Payment' feature on Income Tax Day 2023, making it easy for individuals and businesses to pay their taxes directly through the app without using the IT portal.

PhonePe has teamed up with PayMate to introduce a convenient way for individuals and businesses to pay their taxes. Niharika Saigal, the Head of Bill Payments and Recharge Business at PhonePe, highlights the security and user-friendly nature of this service.

Features of Paying Income Tax via PhonePe App

  1. It provides an alternative to filing taxes traditionally, lowers website load, and fixes technical problems.
  2. Users can use credit cards or UPI for income tax payments.
  3. Credit card payments come with a 45-day interest-free period and reward points based on the bank's policies.
  4. This service provides security and is user-friendly nature.
  5. Taxpayers can pay self-assessment and advance tax directly using Phone Pay.

Step-by-Step Procedure on Income Tax Payment via PhonePe App

Follow the simple steps to pay your taxes on the PhonePe App:

Step 1: Open your Phonepay app and choose the 'Income Tax' option.

Step 2: Click on 'Next Payment'

Step 2: Now, Enter Details like 'Type of Tax Payment', 'Assessment Year', and 'PAN'.

Step 3: Click on 'Proceed' button.

Step 4: Now, Confirm your Tax Details

Step 5: Enter the total amount to Pay and select a Payment Mode.

Step 6: Click on 'Pay Tax'. 

After making the payment successfully, taxpayers receive a Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number, and the amount credited will be visible in the tax portal within two business days.

Note: Once Payment is done, you cannot cancel or be refunded.
