EPF Form 13

If you are an employee switching jobs, then it is important for you to transfer your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) account as well from one company to another. To do so, you will have to ask your employer to fill out the EPF Form 13 and submit it to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Read on to know more about the procedure to submit the EPF Form 13 and the list of documents required to be attached with it.

Points to note when submitting Form 13 for PF transfer

The employee should make a note of the points below when submitting Form 13 for PF transfer

  1. The employee’s bank account should be linked with the UAN
  1. The employee’s UAN should be active on the EPFO portal
  1. The mobile number used for UAN activation should also be active. 
  1. Form 13 should be attested to by any one of the employers, previous or current. 
  1. The employees' Know Your Customer (KYC) should be verified on the EPFO portal. 
  1. Both the current and previous employers should have digitally registered authorised signatories in EPFO. 
  1. The employee can raise only one transfer request on the previous member ID. 
  1. The employee’s Aadhaar number should be linked with UAN.

Details required in the EPF Form 13

The following are the details required in the EPF Form 13: 

  1. Name of the employee (as per the EPF database) 
  1. Employee’s father’s name. In the case of a married woman, the employee will have to provide the husband’s name. 
  1. Employee’s additional details like mobile number, email ID, bank account number and IFSC code of the bank’s branch. 
  1. Previous employer’s name and address details. 
  1. Account number of the EPF account with the previous employer. 
  1. Details of who held the PF account, the name of the EPF office or PF trust. 
  1. Employee’s date of birth, date of joining and date of leaving. 
  1. Employee’s PF account number in the present company. 
  1. Name and address details of the current employer. 
  1. Details of who is holding the current PF account
  1. Date of joining the new company. 
  1. Details of the trust in case the current company is exempted under the EPF scheme 1952. 
  1. Employee code number under the Trust. 
  1. Signature of the employee. 
  1. Signature of the previous employer. 
  1. Signature of the current employer

  • Do I need to sign a copy of Form 13 before submitting it to the employer?

    Yes, you will have to sign a copy of Form 13 before submitting it to the employer.

  • What are the tax benefits of transferring a PF account?

    The employee will have to pay tax on withdrawing the PF amount within five years of employment. However, no tax will be charged if the PF amount is transferred instead of withdrawn.

  • Is it mandatory for the bank account to be linked with UAN for a successful transfer?

    Yes, it is mandatory for the bank account to be linked with UAN for a successful transfer. 

  • How many times is the employee allowed to withdraw PF amount?

    The employee is allowed to withdraw the PF amount up to three times in case of emergencies.
