How to link your passport and your COVID-19 vaccine certificate

As per the latest directives, an individual is required to link their COVID-19 vaccination certificate to their passport in order to be able to travel out of the country. Thus, if you have travel plans and have to go abroad, you will be required to do the same.

The process of linking the vaccination certificate to the passport is fairly simple and straightforward. You can follow the steps mentioned below to link the said documents.

Step 1: Visit the official CoWIN website at

Step 2: Click on the section marked as ‘Account Details’.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Raise Issue’ button.

Step 4: The portal will display 3 different options -

  • Merge Multiple 1st Dose Certificates
  • Certificate Correction
  • Add Passport Details

Click on the ‘Add Passport Details’ option.

Step 5: On the next page, you will be required to select the name of the person from the drop-down menu.

Step 6: Enter the passport number in the field marked as ‘Enter Beneficiary’s Passport Number’.

Step 7: Check the box for the agreement of declaration.

Step 8: Click on the ‘Submit Request’ button.

Once the request is submitted, you will receive an SMS on the registered mobile phone number notifying you about the confirmation of the request. After this process is completed, you can just go back to the Account Details option and click on the ‘Certificate’ button next to the name of the person to download the new certificate which is now linked to the passport.
