Citizens of India can apply for a passport
either through the Passport Seva (Online Portal) or through the District
Passport Cell (DPC) which is considered to be an offline
method of passport application. All applicants are required to follow these
steps to initiate the offline passport application process:
The passport application form can be downloaded from the Passport Seva website or through the DPC directly.
The online portal - www.passportindia.gov.in which is the official website for Passport Seva under the Consular, Passport & Visa Division of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), provides a downloadable 'Instructions Booklet' in PDF format. The booklet contains important guidelines of filling in the passport application form. Applicants are advised to go through the booklet before starting to fill the application form.
DPC in passport application is District Passport Cell. It is a local center or office where applicants can submit their passport applications in person. The DPC is in charge of receiving and processing passport applications as well as performing a preliminary review of the given paperwork.
You will not be able to edit it passport application once you have made the payment. Thus, you need to visit the passport office on the scheduled day and they will issue you a token. Then you will be directed to counter where your biometrics will be taken. Request him or her to make the correction.
