    How is Diesel Priced?

This is a very crucial question to be addressed for fuel clients. The process followed to determine the actual value of diesel is complicated. It begins with importing unrefined oil from other countries. Oil companies will pay the cost of crude oil offered in overseas markets. Crude oil is then converted into diesel at refinery stations owned by fuel companies. There are several types of expenses, which need to be spent during the production stage. After adding the tax charged by the Central Government, the fuel is sold to retail fuel suppliers who charge a certain amount of commission. Value-added Tax is further added.

Which are the Influencers of Fuel Price in Erode

Many factors influence diesel price in Erode. Let’s restrict our discussion only to prime influencers that include global political conditions, the exchange rate of the base currency versus the local currency, climate reports, crude oil rates, the balance between the supply and demand of unrefined oil, etc. As we know, on a daily basis, the currency pair varies. Today, the INR may strengthen against the USD. Tomorrow, the greenback may strengthen against the INR. The performance of this highly traded currency pair relies on the economies of India and the United States of America.

When the USD/INR appreciates, fuel rates will fall. On the contrary, when the USD/INR depreciates, the fuel accrues its price. Taxes play a vital role as well. They are domestically governed. Both forms of taxes can be reviewed whenever needed. Since diesel price in Erode has ruptured the previous high, the Central Government can decline the excise duty, the central level tax. We have witnessed this occurring frequently. Fuel rates should be adjusted accordingly.

Not all countries extract crude oil. Including India, several other countries will purchase this global commodity. Crude oil prices are determined by fuel mining companies. Sometimes, the production and transportation of crude oil get interrupted by bad climate conditions. In such cases, oil marketing nations will marginally increase the selling price. When there is a hike in the selling price, unquestionably, fuel rates are hiked in the domestic market.

Whether or not to Implement GST on Diesel

Till date, GST has not been implemented on diesel and petrol as well. The Central Government has to take decide whether or not to impose GST on these two fuels. It has to take a decision in a way that does not harm its prime income source. Many people are expecting this to happen. They believe that the execution of GST on petrol and diesel will fully smoothen the tax process in India.
