Following Tesla’s popularity with its electric vehicles, several major automobile manufacturers have begun working towards their dreams of launching electric vehicles. Manufacturers like BMW, Volvo and Audi have already revealed plans to introduce electric vehicles in the market. One other name among these well-known manufacturers is the famous German automobile manufacturer, Mercedes, which has announced that it’ll be launching 4 electric cars by the year 2020. This announcement was made by Thomas Weber, the current R&D Head for Mercedes.
Mercedes has planned to roll out 4 electric cars by 2020. While it is not confirmed, but reports suggest that the EV lineup could consist of 2 SUVs and 2 sedans. For ease of production, these electric vehicles could be modeled on existing Mercedes car models like the C-Class and the S-class sedans, which would possibly provide inspiration for the EV sedans, while the GLA and GLC compact crossovers could inspire the production of the new electric SUVs. However, the new EVs are likely to sport never before seen design schemes, while also maintaining the Mercedes trademark features. Reports also suggest that the German automaker will be engineering their very own electric motors which will be featured on these upcoming electric vehicles.

Did you ever think that the Mercedes-Benz GL-series ought to look as bold as the S-class? Well, apparently the people over at Mercedes-Benz seem to think so too, as they’ve launched a facelifted version of the GL-series – the GLS 350d.
What’s new? Well, to start with, the car has all new headlamps that incorporate MultiBeam lamps and LED DRLs. New LED tail lights sit snug looking as mean as ever over an updated rear bumper. The front of the car is where most of the exterior changes can be seen – a beefy bonnet and bigger tri-star Mercedes-Benz logo blend beautifully into the new chrome grill. The front bumper has also undergone a change near the air intakes, which are now bigger and better than ever.
Napa leather and wood trimmings in the interior of the car are an attempt to up its luxury game and justify the huge Rs.80,40,000 (ex-showroom) price tag. Air ionization is another new feature through which the driver can control the air quality within the cabin. The touchscreen interface has been upgraded and now features an 8” screen that connects to the COMAND system.
Under the hood it’s business as usual for Mercedes-Benz. They’ve packed a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 engine that’s capable of producing a whopping 258PS of peak power with 620Nm of max torque. The transmission is taken care of by the 9G-Tronic system
