Hyundai Motor has recently released the 2018 Elite i20 Facelift, the revamped version of the Elite i20 launched on 11 August 2014, in Greater Noida at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. Interestingly, it is the first time that this premium hatchback from Hyundai has received a major update in the past 4 years. Hyundai Elite i20 is currently available in India in 7 colours and 13 different variants.
The price of the Hyundai i20 hasn’t changed much due to the release of the Facelift version. Rather there is a difference of just a few thousand between the new and the current versions. While the existing model is available at a starting price of Rs.4.81 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the price of the Facelift version starts at Rs.5.35 lakh. (Ex-showroom Delhi)
The price of Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift in India starts at Rs.5.35 lakh for the base petrol variant and goes up to Rs.9.21 lakh. On the other hand, the base diesel variant of this updated Elite i20 version comes at a starting price of Rs.6.73 lakh while the price of the top diesel version is fixed at Rs.9.16 lakh.
This implies that there is not much hike in the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 price, rather there is just a marginal difference. In fact, the new Elite i20 Facelift version’s prices are just Rs.5,000 more than the existing Elite i20 version’s base petrol variant and Rs.6,000 more than the base diesel variant.

Where the 1.20-litre petrol-driven engine churns out 83PS of power at 115 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission, the 1.4 litre U2 CRDi diesel mill delivers 90PS of power at 220 Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual transmission. As a third option, there is a 1.4-litre petrol motor producing 100PS of power at 132 Nm of torque which is paired up with a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Due to the marginal rise in the price of the updated version, Elite i20 is likely to remain a strong competitor in the market of the premium hatchbacks in India. Since there is a minimal difference of prices between the Hyundai i20 Facelift 2018, Maruti Baleno and Maruti Suzuki Swift, the former will probably continue giving tough fight to its strongest market rivals in the coming years.
