How to Apply for a Voter ID Card Online in Chandigarh?

Applicants can apply for their voter ID card online by following the guidelines mentioned below:

1. Visit the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chandigarh and click on the 'National Voters Service Portal'.
2. Click on 'Online Registration of New Voter' from among the options provided.
3. Fill in the online form (Form 6) and upload the necessary documents as mentioned in the form.
4. On submission of the form, an application reference number will be generated, which can be used to track the application status at a later date.
5. Once the application has been processed, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) will visit the home to verify the information as mentioned in the application form.
6. On successful verification, the voter ID card will be sent to the address as mentioned in the application form.

How to Apply for a Voter ID Card Offline in Chandigarh?

Applicants can apply for their voter ID card offline by following the guidelines mentioned below:

1. Visit the electoral office and collect a copy of Form 6.
2. Fill in the form and submit it to the electoral office after attaching the necessary supporting documents, when a reference number will be allotted as a receipt.
3. After the application has been processed, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) will make a visit to verify the information as submitted in the form.
4. On successful verification, the voter ID card will be dispatched through the post to the address mentioned in the form.

Track Voter ID Status in Chandigarh

Applicants can track the status of their applications by following the steps given below:

1. Visit the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chandigarh and click on 'National Voters Service Portal'.
2. Click on the 'Correction of Entries in Electoral Roll' option and then click on the 'Track Application Status' tab that appears at the top of the screen.
3. Type in the reference ID that was allotted at the time of form submission and the current status of the application will be displayed onscreen.

How to Apply for a Duplicate Voter ID Card in Chandigarh?

Applicants who have lost or misplaced their voter ID cards can now apply for a duplicate voter ID card instead of having to register again for a new one.

The procedure to apply for a supplicate voter ID card is mentioned below:

1. In case of theft or loss of the original voter ID card, file an FIR (First Information Report) at a police station detailing the theft/loss.
2. Visit an electoral office and collect a copy of Form EPIC 002, which is the form for application of a duplicate card.
3. Fill in the details such as name, address, date of birth, EPIC number etc.
4. Submit the form along with the documents as mentioned on the form to the electoral office.
5. On verification of the application, the supplicate voter ID card will be sent by post.

Process of Voter ID Correction Online in Chandigarh

Process of Voter ID Correction Offline in Chandigarh

1. Visit an electoral office and collect copy of Form 8.
2. Fill in the form and attach the necessary documents, also including a copy of a document that contains the correct information (such as a passport/Aadhaar card/marriage certificate for name change etc.).
3. On submission, the application will be verified and on successful verification, the relevant corrections will be made and updated.

Process of Change of Address in Voter ID Card Online in Chandigarh

Voter ID cardholders who have changed their place of residence can submit an application form to change the address as listed in their voter ID cards as well as the electoral rolls. Known as transposition, this will remove their name from the electoral roll of the constituency where they were formerly residing and include their name in the electoral rolls of the constituency where they are currently residing or moving to.

The procedure to submit this application is given below:

1. Go to the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chandigarh and click on the 'National Voters Service Portal'.
2. Click on the 'Correction of Entries in Electoral Roll' option and then select Form 8-A from the options given.
3. Fill in the form and upload documents that contain the current address (such as rent agreement, ownership deed, utility bills etc.).
4. On verification of the application form, the changes will be reflected in the electoral roll and a fresh voter ID card with the updated information will be sent by post to the new address.

Process of Change of Address in Voter ID Card Offline in Chandigarh

Holders of voter ID cards who have changed their address can submit an application to change their address as mentioned on their voter ID cards by submitting an offline application as well. The change will also be reflected in the electoral rolls. The process for changing the address is given below:

1. Visit an electoral office and collect a copy of Form 8-A.
2. Fill in the form and submit it along with the necessary documents, also including a document that mentions the current place of residence.
3. On verification of the application, the changes in the electoral roll will be made and a fresh voter ID card with the updated address will be sent by post.

Documents Required to Apply for Voter ID in Chandigarh
