The Governor of Meghalaya is the constitutional head of the state, representing the President of India. Since Meghalaya achieved full statehood on 21 January 1972, many prominent personalities have served as Governor.

Phagu Chauhan is the current Governor of Meghalaya since 13 February 2023.
Raj Bhavan is located in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
The Governor oversees the constitutional functioning of the state, including appointing the Chief Minister, addressing the legislature, and acting as a liaison between the Centre and the state.
Brahma Singh served as the first Governor of Meghalaya from 1972 to 1973.
As of now, Meghalaya has not had a female Governor.
Typically, the tenure is five years, but it can be extended or shortened depending on the President’s discretion.
