Types of ICICI Lombard Car Insurance Claim:

There are two types of claims under the ICICI Lombard Car Insurance Policy. They are:

  1. Third Party Claim:
  2. Non-compliance of third-party liability insurance results in heavy fines as it is compulsory. The two main steps of claim in case of a third-party damage are:

    • In case of an accident involving the policyholder’s car, leading to damage or injury to a third-party, he or she is required to inform the police first.
    • The second stop involves informing the insurance company. In case there is any communication received from the third-part, the same should be forwarded to the insurer.
  3. Own Damage Claim:
  4. Comprehensive covers both damage to third-party liability as well as own vehicle caused by natural disasters such as flood, storms, earthquake. The following steps should be taken in case of damage to your own vehicle:

    • In case of own damage to vehicle due to an accident, the police as well as the insurer should be informed immediately.
    • In these cases, you can move the damaged vehicle from the scene of the accident, provided you have the permission from the police and the insurance company.
    • The insurance company then sends a surveyor to assess the extent of the damage and prepares a report.
    • Once the report is generated, the vehicle can be repaired at any authorised repair centre.
    • Based on the policy terms, the insurance company will provide you the compensation for the damage.
    • There is also an option of Cashless Garage plan, where the policyholder can repair their vehicle at any garage that has a tie-up with ICICI Lombard. The company will then settle the bill with garage and you will not be required to pay anything from your pocket.

Theft Claim:

In case of a theft claim, the following steps must be taken:

  • In an unforeseen event of your car being stolen, you must immediately inform the police and the insurance company.
  • A FIR is required to be filed with the police.
  • The local transport department should also be informed regarding the loss of the policyholder’s vehicle.
