Eligibility Criteria for IBPS SO Exam 2020

To be eligible for the IBPS Clerk exam 2020, you need to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:


  • Must be a citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or
  • A subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to the country before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in the country provided that a candidate belonging to Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet or any of the above-mentioned countries shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the central government.


  • Must be between 20 and 30 years of age. (Candidates belonging to reserved categories are offered age relaxation)
  • Relaxation in the Upper age limit depending on the category is listed below:

    • Should have a 4-year engineering or technology degree in Computer Science/Computer Applications/Information Technology/Electronics/Electronics & 3 Telecommunications/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation or
    • Post Graduate degree in Electronics/Electronics & Tele Communication/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications or
    • Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level
  • Agricultural Field Officer
    • Have a graduation degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Animal Husbandry/Veterinary Science/ Dairy Science/ Fishery Science/Pisciculture/ Agri. Marketing & Cooperation/ Co-operation & Banking/Agro-Forestry/Forestry/Agricultural Biotechnology/Food Science/ Agriculture Business Management/Food Technology/Dairy Technology/Agricultural Engineering/Sericulture
  • Rajbhasha Adhikari
    • Must have a post graduate degree in Hindi with English as a subject at graduation level or in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at graduation level.
  • Law Officer
    • Must have a Bachelors’ degree in Law and enrolled as an advocate with the Bar council.
  • HR/Personnel Officer
    • Must be a graduate and have a full-time Masters’ degree or a Post graduate diploma in Personnel Management/Industrial Relations/HR/HRD/Social work/Labour Law.
  • Marketing Officer
    • Must be a graduate and have a full time MMS degree or MBA degree or PGDBA or PGDBM or PGPM or PGDM degree in Marketing.

How to apply for IBPS SO Exam 2020

You can apply for the IBPS Clerk Exam 2020 online. The application process is listed below:

  • Visit the official website of IBPS
  • Click on ‘CRP Specialist Officers’
  • Select ‘Common Recruitment Process for Specialist Officers X’
  • Next, select ‘Click here to apply online for CRP – Specialist Officers - X
  • Fill in the form
  • Upload scanned image of passport size photo, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration as per the specifications provided in the guidelines.
  • Next, click on ‘Submit’
  • On doing so, you will be redirected to a fee payment window
  • Pay the fees using debit/credit card or through net banking
  • Once the payment is successful, a registration ID will be generated which can be used for future reference
  • Get a printout of the application form with all the provided details.

Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of documents

  1. Photograph
    • The photo must be a recent coloured one taken preferably against a white background
    • Dimensions should be 200 x 230 pixels
    • File size should be between 20KB to 50KB
  2. Signature
    • Must be signed in Black ink
    • Dimensions should be 140 x 60 pixels
    • File size should not be more than 20KB
  3. Left thumb impression
    • Must be in blue and black ink
    • Dimensions should be 240 x 240 pixels in 200 DPI
    • File size should be between 20KB and 50KB
    • File type should be jpg or jpeg
  4. Handwritten declaration
    • Must be written in English with black ink
    • Dimensions should be 800 x 400 pixels in 200 DPI
    • File size should be between 50KB and 100KB
    • File type should be jpg or jpeg

  3. To determine the result, will the marks scored in the preliminary exam be considered?
  4. No, the marks obtained in the preliminary exam will not be considered when determining the result. Only the marks obtained in the mains exam and interview shall be considered.
