Trupay is a UPI-enabled, digital payment app that is allows customers to both send and receive money without using IFSC code or bank account number. The money transfer process is instant, direct and can be carried out using only a virtual address, also known as, Virtual Payment Address (VPA). Apart from fund transfers, users can also pay utility bills such as gas, electricity, DTH and recharge their prepaid mobile connections. Fund transfers can be made at anytime and even on bank holidays. There is no transaction fee or other related charges for sending money using this app. This UPI payment app has tied up with more than 24 banks. There is no need to recharge or add money because this is not a digital wallet, and money is directly debited from the bank account through a highly secure interface.

How to Download Trupay

Trupay is available on both Android and iOS platforms. To download the app on your Android phone, go to Google Play Store and search for Trupay. Click on instal and the app will be downloaded onto your phone.

To download the app on an iOS phone, go to the Apple App store and search for Trupay and install the app. Once the installation process is complete, the user will have to launch the app and register for the service by following a set of simple instructions.

How to Register for Truepay

  • Step 1: Download the Truepay app and launch it
  • Step 2: Go to the app menu and click on the ‘Register Bank Account’ option
  • Step 3: Click on the ‘Create Payment ID’ tab and key in a preferred one. Proceed to select your bank.
  • Step 4: The next step is to enter the last 6 digits printed on the debit card
  • Step 5: You will receive an OTP. Enter the same and create an MPIN.
  • Step 6: Now you can send and receive money using Truepay

How to Send Money Using Trupay

  • Step 1: Download the Truepay app and launch it
  • Step 2: Click on the ‘Send Money’ option
  • Step 3: Select a payee from your phone contact list. To send money to someone not on Truepay, the user will have to add them to a ‘Beneficiary list’
  • Step 4: Proceed to enter the transaction amount and click on ‘Next’. Now verify details and click ‘Send’. Enter MPIN to authenticate and complete the transaction.

How to collect money using Trupay

  • Step 1: Download the Truepay app and launch it
  • Step 2: Click on ‘Request money and click on the person from whom you want to receive money from your contact list
  • Step 3: Enter the amount and send the request

How to scan and pay using Trupay

  • Open the app
  • Click on the ‘Scan & Pay’ option
  • The camera will automatically open, proceed to scan the merchant code
  • Enter the transaction amount and authenticate the transaction using MPIN

FAQs of Trupay

  1. Is Truepay another digital wallet?

    Truepay is not a wallet. Therefore users will not have to add money like other digital wallets. Funds are debited from the bank account of the user that is linked with the app.

  2. Who manages or governs Truepay?

    The app falls under the purview of the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

  3. Is it safe to use Truepay?

    The app works on a secure two-factor authentication system that is governed and regulated by the RBI. As a security measure, Truepay uses a bank grade security interface that works on an encrypted 256 bit database.

  4. Is it possible to transact using this app if the my bank is not UPI-enabled?

    You will have limited access. This means that you can still receive money.

  5. What is a VPA?

    Also known as UPI payment ID, a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) is like an email id that is used as a means of identification to send and receive money through the app.

  6. How can a user change his/her MPIN?

    This can be done on app by going to the ‘Profile’ section and clicking on ‘Set MPIN’.

  7. What should the user do if he/she is not able to create or change MPIN?

    In such a case, first ensure that the phone number used is the same as the one linked to your bank account. Make sure you choose the correct sim if you have a dual sim phone. If you are still unable to create or change MPIN, then contact the customer care.

  8. Is it possible to split payments with friends?

    Yes. to do so, go to the ‘Contri’ option.

  9. Where can I see my transaction history?

    Open the app, go to the menu option and click on ‘Transaction History’ to view the same.

  10. Can I purchase gift cards on the app?

    Yes. The same can be done by using the ‘Gift Cards’ tab.
