Possession certificate is a document that affirms one’s authority over a property. The certificate is issued after the developer gets a completion certificate from the concerned authority. You can use the certificate to include the property in land revenue records in order to secure a loan. It is issued by the Tahsildar in rural areas and RDO (Revenue Divisional Officer) in urban areas.
Importance of Possession CertificatePossession certificates can also work as legal documents if there are any disputes regarding the ownership of property. So, if you are buying a house or land, make sure you have the certificate handed over to you by the previous owner.
A possession certificate is issued after 7 days of submitting the applications along with all the relevant documents.
You will get an SMS on your registered mobile informing you about issuing of your possession certificate. Re-login to the e-district portal after getting the ‘Your Possession Certificate has been issued’ SMS on the registered mobile number. The digitally signed certificate can be downloaded and printed.
