    Possession certificate is a document that affirms one’s authority over a property. The certificate is issued after the developer gets a completion certificate from the concerned authority. You can use the certificate to include the property in land revenue records in order to secure a loan. It is issued by the Tahsildar in rural areas and RDO (Revenue Divisional Officer) in urban areas.

    Steps to Apply for Possession Certificate in Telangana

    • Step 1: Visit the Tahsildar office to get the application form.
    • Step 2: Enter your and your property details.

    • Step 3: Attach all the required documents along with the application form.
    • Step 4: Submit the form to the relevant office.
    • Step 5: Once notified, the technical officer will inspect the site.
    • Step 6: After detailed analysis, the report will be sent to the higher officials and finally to the city planner.
    • Step 7: After all the procedures are completed, the possession certificate will be issued (usually in 7 days).

    Possession certificates can also work as legal documents if there are any disputes regarding the ownership of property. So, if you are buying a house or land, make sure you have the certificate handed over to you by the previous owner.
