The National Technical and Textile Mission (NTTM) is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Textiles, the Government of India, and the World Bank. It aims to promote inclusive growth in the textile sector by adding value. 

The goal is to increase product quality, market access, productivity, and competitiveness in the Indian sector with a value chain approach. It aims to achieve this goal by delivering a comprehensive, integrated package of investment incentives, regulatory reforms, and building capacity support.

How Does the NTTM Scheme Work?

The Ministry will use a three-tier institutional structure made up of the following groups to carry out this mission: 

  1. Mission Steering Committee: This committee will authorize all financial standards pertaining to the plans, initiatives, and elements of the mission. They will also authorize scientific and technological research projects related to this mission 
  1. Empowered Program Committee: They will approve all initiatives except research projects, which fall within the financial limits of many programs approved by the mission steering committee. The committee will also be in charge of keeping an eye on how different mission components are being carried out 
  1. Research initiatives are identified and recommended to the mission steering group for approval by the Technical Textiles Committee on Research, Development, and Innovation. Strategic areas like space, defense, paramilitary, security, and atomic energy are all involved in the initiatives. 

Eligibility to Apply for the National Technical Textiles Mission

Here are the eligibility criteria to apply for the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM): 

Senior Consultant 

  1. MBA, M.Sc. (Maths/Statistics), and M.Com. candidates 
  1. 5 years of professional experience 
  1. Must be 21 to 65 years old 
  1. Contractually hired after an interview 
  1. one post available 
  1. Monthly total compensation of Rs.80,000 

Consultant or Specialist in Scientific Research 

  1. M.Sc. in Agriculture, Physics, Material Science, or Chemistry, with 5 years of related experience 
  1. Must be 21–65 years old 
  1. Hired on a contractual basis after an interview 

Consultants (Applications) 

  1. Consultants or experts in scientific research are similar 
  1. In addition to being eligible for NTTM, you should be informed of the many aspects of the mission. 

Components of National Technical Textiles Mission

Here are the four components of National Technical Textiles Mission as follows: 

  1. Research, Development, and Innovation: With a budget of Rs.1000 crore, the component concentrates on research at the fiber and application-based levels in geotechnical textiles, mobile textiles, medical, agricultural, sports, and the creation of biodegradable technical textiles 
  1. Market Development and Promotion: Rs.50 crore will be spent on this element. This component of the objective is to expand the domestic market size from $40 million to $50 million 
  1. Export Promotion: This component, which costs Rs.10 crore, tries to encourage exports 
  1. The Education, Training, and Skill Development component is allocated a Rs.400 crore budget.
