Group Credit Protection Plus is a group life insurance plan that helps borrowers to repay the outstanding loan if the insured member dies during the policy term. It may also provide coverage for accidental permanent total disability or critical illness, if you add these optional benefits to your plan.

Coverage 

Death Benefit: If the member or either one of the jointmembersdies, the sum assured is payable on the date of death. If it is a joint life, then the death benefit of the member orboth of the memberswill beterminated.

Accelerated Critical Illness Benefit: On diagnosis of any critical illness on the life of the member, the sum assured as on the date of diagnosis is paid. After this payment is done, the risk cover shall beterminated.Accelerated Accidental Permanent Total Disability Benefit: On permanent disability due to accident, the sum assured as on the date of the accident is paid. But on the payment, the risk benefit will beterminated.

Maturity Benefit: There is no maturity benefit with this plan.

Surrender Value 

You can surrender (cancel) the policy or a member's cover based on the plan's terms. If a surrender value is applicable, the higher of the Guaranteed Surrender Value (GSV) or Special Surrender Value (SSV) will be paid.

Free look period 

You have 30 days to check the policy. If you do not want it and have not made any claim, you can cancel it. You will get a refund after some charges are deducted. The company will refund the money within 7 days after receiving your cancellation request. 

Grace period 

You will get 30 days (yearly/half-yearly/quarterly) or 15 days (monthly) to pay the premium after the due date. The policy stays active during this period.

Optional Inbuilt Benefits of Group Credit Protection Plus 

You can also add the following optional benefits as well: 

a) Accelerated Critical Illness Benefit 

If a member is diagnosed with a covered critical illness while the policy is active, then the insured amount (Sum Assured) for that member will be paid as per the schedule of policy. The payment will be made at the beginning of the month in which the illness is diagnosed. Once this benefit is paid, the member insurance cover under the policy will end. The diseases covered under the add on are as follows:  

  • Cancer of specified severity  
  • First heart attack  
  • Open chest CABG  
  • Kidney failure requiring regular dialysis  
  • Stroke  
  • Major organ and bone marrow transplant  
  • Permanent paralysis  
  • Multiple sclerosis  
  • Aortic surgery  
  • Pulmonary hypertension  
  • Alzheimer’s disease 

b) Accelerated Accidental Permanent Total Disability Benefit 

If a member suffers from covered accidental permanent total disability while the policy is active, then the insured amount (Sum Assured) for that member will be paid as per the policy schedule. The payment will be made at the beginning of the month in which the disability occurs. After paying the benefit, the member insurance cover under the policy will end. 

Revival of Insurance Cover

If you do not pay the premium of your insurance cover, then your insurance cover will be lapsed. You may be able to revive it if you meet the following eligibility conditions:

  • Your group membership must remain active. 
  • You can apply for the revival within 5 years from the date of the first unpaid premium and before the end of the premium payment term.  
  • The revived cover will take effect only after the insurer confirms the revival.  
  • The policy will cover only events that occur after the revival date. 
  • Pay all overdue premiums along with applicable interest.  
  • Provide any required evidence of insurability if requested.

    In case you fail to pay the premium within the grace period, your insurance cover will be discontinued. You may be able to reactivate your cover within the allowed revival period by meeting the requirements of the policy.
