Star Health Accident Care Insurance Policy

Star Health offers a number of insurance policies with various unique benefits and features. The Accident Care Individual by Star Health provides numerous unique benefits and features. These include cover for Temporary Disablement, Accidental death and Permanent Disability. The compensation offered for permanent total disablement will be 150 percent of the insured sum. For dependent children, an educational grant is also provided. This health insurance plan also provides coverage for winter sports and extension for payment of medical expenses.

  • At entry, customers must be between 18 and 70 years old and renewal is available for life.
  • From the age of 5 months to 25 years, dependent children can be covered.
  • Benefits of the policy are applicable for each individual who is covered by the policy.

Premium Based on the policy benefits, sum insured and Group chosen, premium may vary. The below table illustrates the premium for a sum insured of Rs. 5,00,000. This premium will not include service tax. All insured are classified into three groups for rating purposes. These are - Group I - Individuals who work in administration related functions. Group II - Individuals who are engaged in manual labour other than what is specified for Group III. Group III - Individuals engaged in explosives industry, magazine or mine workers, electric supply, jockeys, athletes or other hazardous occupations.

Coverage Coverage is divided as follows - Table A - This aspect of the policy covers accidental death. Table B - This aspect of the policy covers permanent disablement in addition to accidental death. Table C - This aspect of the policy offers coverage for permanent disablement, accidental death and temporary complete disablement (compensation every week)

Renewability Under mutual consent, customers can renew their insurance. In case a claim for permanent total disability is admissible or admitted, the policy cannot be renewed for that policyholder.
Insured Sum Based on income per month from gainful employment as determined by the company.

Other benefits for free -
  • Customers receive a maximum educational grant of Rs. 10,000 for every child (maximum 2 children) in case of permanent total disability or death of the insured death.
  • Transportation for mortal remains and ambulance charges up to Rs. 5000 will be borne by the company during the policy term.
  • For death claims, travel expense for one relative will be paid for.
  • Other benefits include purchase of blood, transportation of medicines will be taken up for a certain amount.
  • On payment of additional premium, customers can also procure an extension on medical expenses, home convalescence and hospital cash benefit can be procured.
  • A cumulative bonus of 5 percent of the insured sum accrues to the policyholder for every completed year for a maximum of 50 percent.
  • Pre-existing injuries or disabilities
  • Claim regarding events that has occurred prior to commencement of policy
  • Claim for disability or death due to self-inflicted injuries
  • Mental disorder, suicide, attempted-suicide
  • Accidents due to war, rebellion, civil war. Etc.
  • Nuclear, biological or chemical terrorism.
  • Participation in life threatening activities
