    How to Make a Oriental Car Insurance Claim?

    When you have incurred damages or loss to property or the vehicle, injuries or death of people, you need to file a claim for insurance to cover the costs. The procedures are different depending on the nature of the incident and the liabilities involved.

    Claim in Case of Third Party Liability

    • Inform Oriental Insurance about the incident.
    • You will need to submit the following documents:
      • Copy of the claim intimation, along with a copy of the policy and premium receipt
      • Copy of FIR
      • Copy of Driving licence
      • Copy of  Registration Certificate
    • You need to inform Oriental insurance about the following details:
      • Statement of the driver of the incident
      • Name and address of the police station where the accident has been reported.
      • Name and address of the person injured or killed.
      • Address of the hospital where the person has been shifted.
      • Certified copies of the post mortem or injury report.
      • Details of the loss to the third party vehicle or property.
      • Vakalatnama duly signed by owner of vehicle and driver
      • Details of who was travelling in the vehicle and if you had prior knowledge about the occupants.

    Claim in Case of Accident

    • You need to inform Oriental Insurance about the accident.
    • You will need to fill up a claim form and submit it.
    • The following documents are required:
      • Copy of the claim intimation, along with a copy of the policy and premium receipt
      • FIR or Police Panchanama
      • Driving licence, original and copy
      • Registration Certificate, original and copy
      • Estimate or repairs
      • Cash memos and final bill of repairs
      • Verification of Road Tax
    • A surveyor will assess the damage at the site of the accident. Please ensure you take down the name, address and phone number of the surveyor.

    Claim in Case of Theft of The Vehicle

    • You need to inform the police and Oriental Car Insurance.
    • You should file an FIR with the police immediately.
    • You need to submit the following documents:
      • Copy of the claim intimation, along with a copy of the policy and premium receipt.
      • Claim form
      • FIR or Police Panchanama Report
      • Police investigation report
      • Any photos or videos of the findings, damages to property, etc.
      • Driving licence, original and copy

    • You need to hand over the keys of the vehicle.
    • A surveyor will investigate the case.
    • You need to substantiate the quantum of your loss by providing access to your original bills, invoices, cash memos, stock register,  fixed asset register, bank statement, cash book or ledger.

    In the event of a flood, storm, cyclone, earthquake, landslide and so on, you can file for insurance for the damages or loss of your car. You will need to follow the process given below.

    Claim in Case of Fire and Explosion

    If there has been a fire or explosion, you can submit a claim to Oriental Insurance.

    • Inform Oriental Insurance of the incident and the loss or damage to the insured vehicle.
    • Lodge an FIR with the police.
    • You will need to submit the following documents:

    Oriental Motor Insurance Coverage

    Before you make a claim for insurance, you should know what your policy covers. You are eligible to claim insurance depending on the package you have opted for. Oriental Insurance will approve claims that are made under the following circumstances.

    Add on coverage

    To extend your insurance cover, you can opt for add ons on your policy. Your premium will be raised to incorporate additional cover provided.

    • Nil Depreciation Cover - In case you make a claim for partial damage, the full value of the parts will be considered without any depreciation in value.
    • Alternative Car - Get a temporary car to drive for periods of 5, 10 or 15 days in case your car has been stolen or in an accident.
    • Loss of Personal Items - For an additional premium of Rs. 400 or Rs. 650, you can insure yourself against the loss of personal effects lost in the accident or theft for up to Rs. 5,000 or Rs. 10,000. Money, credit cards and Laptops, mobile will not be covered.
    • Free Emergency Service through TVS - In case your car breaks down, you can avail of emergency services free of cost. No additional premium will be charged. This service is applicable in Delhi, NCR, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Kolkata, Mumbai and All Southern States.
    • Damage outside India - By paying extra premium, you can cover your losses incurred in Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

    Exclusions of the Oriental Car Insurance

    Insurance policies will cover only certain situations according to the policy you have chosen. But even with insurance, your claim can be rejected under the following circumstances.

    • Driver at the time of the accident does not have a valid driving license.
    • Driver at the time of the accident was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    • Loss due to Mechanical failure or Electrical breakdown.
    • Depreciation.
    • Consequential loss.
    • Loss or damage incurred due to war, nuclear risk or mutiny.
    • Damage incurred outside of India unless covered in specified countries.
