Individual health insurance policy from Universal Sompo is offered to individuals and/or their families. This health insurance policy aims to cover domiciliary hospitalization benefits as well as hospitalization expenses in case of accidental injury or illness during the policy tenure.

The plan covers treatments in nursing homes or hospitals based in India only. Domiciliary expenses here are defined as medical treatment for an illness that exceeds 3 days and where treatment is not possible in a hospital due to the following reasons:

  1. Patient isn't in a condition to get admitted in a hospital
  2. Patient cannot be admitted in a hospital due to lack of accommodation

2.5% lifestyle discount if falling in low risk zones, having a healthy lifestyle and who are covered under employer's group health policy

Benefits

  1. No medical tests till the age of 45 years. Above this age, medical test charges are reimbursed on a 50% basis.
  2. Cashless hospitalization in any of the network hospitals.
  3. Option to add additional cover for Critical Illness.
  4. Tax exemptions as per Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  5. Flexible premium amounts as per age and sum assured chosen.

Exclusions

  1. Pre-existing diseases
  2. Domiciliary or general hospitalization within 30 days of initiation of insurance . Accidental injuries will be covered from 1st policy day itself.
  3. Cataract, hysterectomy, sinusitis, piles, prostatic hypertrophy and other related illness in the 1st policy year.
  4. Injuries resulting from invasion, war or act of foreign enemy.
  5. Circumcision unless for treatment of a disease.
  6. Hearing aids, contact lenses, spectacle costs.
  7. Dental surgery or treatment that doesn't require hospitalization.
  8. Intentional self-injury, venereal diseases and alcohol/drug use.
  9. AIDS and related treatments.
  10. Aesthetic or cosmetic treatments.
  11. Pregnancy and child birth expenses.
  12. Voluntary pregnancy termination.
  13. Naturopathy treatments.
