    United India Insurance Co. Ltd. is a public-sector general insurance provider that was formed in 1938 and nationalised in 1972.     13. My United India health insurance policy is about to expire. What should I do?
    14. You must renew your United India health insurance policy before the date of expiry. In the event that the policy is not renewed, the continuity of the cover will be lost, if not renewed within seven days from the stipulated due date of the renewal.

      If you do not renew your health insurance during the time frame allotted, you risk losing all the continuity benefits under the health policy.


    15. I have been covered under the United India Family Medicare policy for 2 years now. Am I eligible for any discounts?

Yes, United India health insurance offers discounts to policyholders of Family Medicare policies as well as Family Medicare 2014 policies in the following circumstance- United India health insurance offers a discount rate between 3%-15% on the renewal premium. This discount is applicable after you have completed three claim-free consecutive years as a United India health insurance policy holder. Post completing three years of no claim the discount will be applicable annually.

    • United India Insurance and Bank of Maharashtra Renew Partnership

      The United India Insurance Company and the Bank of Maharashtra have renewed their tie-up, allowing bank customers to buy any of United India Assurance’s products at any of the bank branches. The announcement was made by the bank’s Chairman at a recent meeting. Customers can buy motor, health, fire as well as marine and overseas travel insurance policies at the bank’s 1,896 branches.

    • United India’s chances of winning Goa’s Health Scheme bid just got better

      United India Insurance Company which is one of the upcoming health insurance providers in India comes closer to winning the bid for a health insurance scheme being launched by the Government of Goa. The health insurance scheme which is named ‘Din Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana’ will cover 15 lakh people in Goa which also includes three families in the region. In a proposal inviting bidders, the Government of Goa stated that the insurance scheme will offer cover up to Rs. 2,50,000 per annum for a family of three members and less and a cover of Rs.4 lakh for a family of four members and less.

      The scheme will provide quality healthcare treatment, hospitalisation and surgery in both government and private hospitals unlike the other health insurances in the past which had a lot of flaws. The health department in Goa opened financial bids for flagship of the scheme a while ago and United India was one among the many bidders and has high chances of winning the bid. The health department will send out a comparative statement to the state government for finalisation.

      Devotees who throng the Kundam festival can stay rest assured, for the Bannari Amman Temple has tied up with United India Insurance to offer a health cover to devotees for the third year running. Devotees who participate in the fire-walking ritual during the festival will be insured for Rs 1 lakh. Devotees who wish to register in the scheme should provide a certificate from a government hospital, with the scheme covering injuries which happen in the temple premises.

    • United India Insurance’s net profit drops

      The net profit of United India Insurance has slipped in the first half of the current year in comparison to the corresponding period previously. For the half year ended September 30, 2015, the company reported a net profit of Rs. 356.21 crore as against the previous amount of Rs.376.24 crore. The premium increased to Rs. 5,914 crore (earlier Rs. 5,291 crore); and investment income was Rs. 1,073.84 crore (previously Rs.1,067.40 crore).

      According to Milind Kharat, Chairman and Managing Director, United India Insurance, increased health claims ratio and higher provisioning for wages were the reason for the drop in net profit.

      Public sector non-life insurer United India Insurance Company Ltd collected gross premium worth Rs.10,620 crore in last fiscal year, company sources said.

      The general manager of the company, V.E. Kaimal said, “The Company hopes to close last fiscal with gross premium of Rs. 10,620 crore,” he said.

      The non-life insurer saw business growth across all of its areas of operations--especially health and motor insurance portfolios which led to the enhanced premium collection. United Insurance collected gross premium of Rs.9,709 crore in the last fiscal. The company also operates business lines like motor, health, household and shopkeeper insurance, among others.
