  • United India UNI Criticare Health Insurance:

  • This is taken to cover specific critical ailments often excluded under most health plans . A payout is made on diagnosis of these illnesses, subject to a survival period.

  • United India Insurance Personal Accident Policy:

  • Meeting with an accident isn’t something one expects will ever happen to themselves, and this is why most people avoid getting accident insurance policies. It’s unfortunate that when such people meet with accidents, they aren’t able to meet medical costs and are stuck in a financially unstable situations which could’ve been avoided. Accident health insurance policies like United India’s Personal Accident Insurance Policy have been designed keeping in mind the needs of those who have met with accidents are were rendered unable to provide for their families or themselves. If an accident leaves you dismembered, takes away your eyesight or hearing, etc. there are insurance policies that will compensate you and your family owing to the fact that you may not be able to earn a living after the accident. In the case of your unfortunate death due to accident, this policy will pay out a death benefit to your family to keep them afloat during hard times.

Features of United India Personal Accident Policy:

  • 100% of the sum insured is paid on death of the policyholder to the nominees.
  • 100% of the sum insured is paid to the policyholder if he / she has been rendered permanently totally disabled by an accident.
  • 100% of the sum insured is paid to the policyholder if he / she loses limbs or eyes due to an accident.
  • Dependent children are paid out an additional education benefit.
  • The policy has worldwide coverage.
  • Insurance cover can be sought up to the age of 80 after medical tests are taken (for applicants over the age of 70).

How to file a health insurance claim with United India Insurance?

2 types of health insurance claims can be filed with United India Insurance:

  • Cashless Claim: Get admitted at a network hospital of the insurer to avail cashless hospitalisation. Intimate the insurer prior to admission in the case of planned hospitalisation or within 24 hours of admission in the case of emergency hospitalisation. Show your health card at the hospital helpdesk. The hospital will submit a pre-authorisation request form to the insurer or Third-Party Administrator. Upon approval, the hospital will provide cashless treatment to the insured member. The medical bills will be settled directly with the hospital by the insurer.
  • Reimbursement Claim: A written intimation has to be sent to the insurer or TPA within 24 hours of hospitalisation. Collect all the original medical documents at the time of discharge. Pay the bills upfront and later file a reimbursement claim with the insurer within 7 days from the date of discharge. The claim will be approved or rejected as per the policy terms and conditions.

Dos and Don’ts of United India Health Insurance:

Here are some dos and don'ts one should keep in mind when purchasing a United India Health Insurance policy, renewing an existing policy, making changes in the policy schedule, making claims or registering grievances:

New policy

    • The proposal form submitted by the proposer should contain his or her personal details including contact number and email ID.

    • Read the prospectus carefully before filling out the proposal form. It contains details of the chosen health insurance policy.

    • The insured person details form has to be filled with details of each family member that is to be covered under the policy. Along with the form, a stamp-size photograph and an ID of each family member like Voter's ID, Passport, PAN card or Driving Licence has to be submitted to the insurer.

    • At the time of proposal, honestly disclose any pre-existing illness, injury or ailment for each insured person.

    • For any clarification regarding the proposal form, contact the insurer's office.

    • A copy of the duly-filled and signed proposal form will be given to the proposer along with the policy copy within 30 days of policy issuance.

    • Check the name, age, gender, address, and other personal details in the policy schedule. Ensure the period of insurance is correct.

    • Don't furnish any false information on the proposal form.

    • Don't sign the proposal form without reading the terms and conditions.

    • Don't hide any facts or material information like pre-existing conditions of the insured member.

Renewal

    • Keep track of the policy renewal date and renew the policy before the due date to enjoy continued benefits.

    • Pay the renewal premium within the 7-days grace period to avoid policy lapse.

    • Read the sum insured enhancement condition carefully before requesting for enhancement of sum insured.

    • Changes at the time of policy renewal have to be given in the form of written requests.

    • A receipt of the premium payment has to be kept under Indian Law

Don't delay in policy renewal even by a day or else claim will be not be payable.
Cashless claim

    • Ensure the hospital falls under the network hospitals of the insurer to avail cashless facility.

    • In the case of a planned hospitalisation, the TPA has to be given prior intimation with the name and address of the hospital.

    • In the case of an emergency hospitalisation, the TPA has to be intimated immediately after admission.

    • The hospital has to send a duly-signed pre-authorisation request by the insured to the TPA. Admission details, illness, treatment, and expense have to be mentioned in the form.

    • Upon discharge from the hospital, pay the difference amount.

    • Pre and post-hospitalisation expenses can be claimed individually. In the case of post-hospitalisation claim, all original documents have to be submitted within 7 days to the TPA.

Don't delay the submission of the documents required by the TPA or the insurer.
Reimbursement claim

    • In the case of reimbursement claims, the TPA has to be intimated within 24 hours of hospitalisation.

    • Obtain the discharge summary, investigation report, hospital bills, pharmacy bills, and prescriptions from the hospital at the time of discharge. The original documents have to be submitted to the TPA within 7 days of the discharge date.

    • Separate claims can be made for pre and post-hospitalisation expenses. All original documents have to be submitted within 7 days to the TPA for a post-hospitalisation claim.

    • Keep a copy of all the medical documents.

    • Don’t forget to disclose insurance details at the time of admission.

    • Don’t forget to read the pre-authorisation request form carefully before signing it.

    • Don't hide facts to avoid facing a dispute at the time of making a claim.

Grievance

    • Write a mail to the policy issuing office regarding any complaint or grievance the policyholder may have with the services rendered by the insurer.

    • Approach the Regional Office or Head Office for redressal.

    • If the loss is below Rs.20 lakh and the policy is issued to an individual, the grievance can be escalated to the Honorable Ombudsman (if the policyholder is dissatisfied with the redressal carried out by the insurance company).

    A 5% discount is available on the total premium payable for at least one extra member.

  2. What is the time period within which the health insurance policy can be renewed?

    The United India Insurance policy can be renewed from thirty days prior to the date of expiry of the policy up until the actual expiry date of the policy.

  3. I am unable to renew my United India health insurance. Why?

    Inability to renew policies of health insurance of United India Insurance would occur in the following scenarios -

    Contact your health insurance provider at the earliest because the health card is a mandate for making cashless claims. Your health card is also your proof that you are covered under a United India insurance policy.

  6. Is it possible to modify an existing policy by including additional persons?

    Yes, including additional persons in an existing United India Insurance policy is possible in the event that -

    The original policy was bought online.

    The policy is taken care of by the online team of United India Insurance.

    The policy starts with digits other than, 311101 or 011101, then modification of those policies can only be done by the corresponding branch and online requests cannot be honoured.

  7. My United India health insurance policy is about to expire. What should I do?

    You must renew your United India health insurance policy before the date of expiry. In the event that the policy is not renewed, the continuity of the cover will be lost, if not renewed within seven days from the stipulated due date of the renewal.

    If you do not renew your health insurance during the time frame allotted, you risk losing all the continuity benefits under the health policy.

  8. I have been covered under the United India Family Medicare policy for 2 years now. Am I eligible for any discounts?

    Yes, United India health insurance offers discounts to policyholders of Family Medicare policies as well as Family Medicare 2014 policies in the following circumstance- United India health insurance offers a discount rate between 3%-15% on the renewal premium. This discount is applicable after you have completed three claim-free consecutive years as a United India health insurance policy holder. Post completing three years of no claim the discount will be applicable annually.

  9. I am a policyholder of the United India Gold health insurance policy. I would like to like to add my wife as an additional member. Are there any discounts applicable for this?

    Yes, persons insured under the United India health insurance policies such as Gold, Platinum and Senior Citizen are offered a 5% deduction on the total premium of the existing policy upon the addition of a family member.

  10. I am covered under the Family Medicare 20014 policy. I would like to avail the add-on cover of daily cash allowance. What is the premium that I will need to pay?

  • United India’s chances of winning Goa’s Health Scheme bid just got better

    United India Insurance Company which is one of the upcoming health insurance providers in India comes closer to winning the bid for a health insurance scheme being launched by the Government of Goa. The health insurance scheme which is named ‘Din Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana’ will cover 15 lakh people in Goa which also includes three families in the region. In a proposal inviting bidders, the Government of Goa stated that the insurance scheme will offer cover up to Rs. 2,50,000 per annum for a family of three members and less and a cover of Rs.4 lakh for a family of four members and less.

    The scheme will provide quality healthcare treatment, hospitalisation and surgery in both government and private hospitals unlike the other health insurances in the past which had a lot of flaws. The health department in Goa opened financial bids for flagship of the scheme a while ago and United India was one among the many bidders and has high chances of winning the bid. The health department will send out a comparative statement to the state government for finalisation.

    Devotees who throng the Kundam festival can stay rest assured, for the Bannari Amman Temple has tied up with United India Insurance to offer a health cover to devotees for the third year running. Devotees who participate in the fire-walking ritual during the festival will be insured for Rs 1 lakh. Devotees who wish to register in the scheme should provide a certificate from a government hospital, with the scheme covering injuries which happen in the temple premises.

  • United India Insurance’s net profit drops

    The net profit of United India Insurance has slipped in the first half of the current year in comparison to the corresponding period previously. For the half year ended September 30, 2015, the company reported a net profit of Rs. 356.21 crore as against the previous amount of Rs.376.24 crore. The premium increased to Rs. 5,914 crore (earlier Rs. 5,291 crore); and investment income was Rs. 1,073.84 crore (previously Rs.1,067.40 crore).

    According to Milind Kharat, Chairman and Managing Director, United India Insurance, increased health claims ratio and higher provisioning for wages were the reason for the drop in net profit.

  • United India Insurance Collects Premium worth Rs.10,620 Cr

    Public sector non-life insurer United India Insurance Company Ltd collected gross premium worth Rs.10,620 crore in last fiscal year, company sources said.

    The general manager of the company, V.E. Kaimal said, “The Company hopes to close last fiscal with gross premium of Rs. 10,620 crore,” he said.

    The non-life insurer saw business growth across all of its areas of operations--especially health and motor insurance portfolios which led to the enhanced premium collection. United Insurance collected gross premium of Rs.9,709 crore in the last fiscal. The company also operates business lines like motor, health, household and shopkeeper insurance, among others.

  • United India expects 11% growth for 2014-15

    United India Insurance is a major insurance company in the nation especially in the northern states. The company collected a total premium income of Rs.9700 crore in the last fiscal year. United India Health insurance is also a very popular product among other products in the company’s portfolio.


    With the insurance sector registering an average growth of 8%, the insurance company is confident of clocking around Rs.11000 crore as total premium amount collected in the coming fiscal. The company hopes to make a growth of 11% for the upcoming financial year 2014-15.United India has been collecting a major part of these premium amount from the state of Uttar Pradesh where it is anticipating a growth rate of 17%. The company is also set to hire around 1000 more employees across different offices in the country.


    Insurance in India has for quite some time been the monopoly of four government owned insurance companies that enjoyed a market share of about 50%. With new private players and several reforms and ordinances, the insurance industry is about to take a new leap in terms of growth and market share.

    Its my first experience with United India when my father had health issue, the claim process was very friendly, especially for the corporate employees. I applied for the cash less but the issues in every july they renew the policy at the time portal was off, hence I went for reimbursement. They gave me only Rs.35,000 of reimbursement overall I spend around Rs.78,000. They got tied up with lots of hospitals as well.

    Because my company has a tie up with United India for the health insurance policy. Within a month i got my claim and they have a cashless treatment policy. My full family has been covered in this policy including my parents. They used to give a coverage based on the employee grade.

    Taken my family health insurance from United India. The policy was given by CITI bank credit card and the premium amount was affordable earlier and now it has been increased. I tried to claim for my parents and they said when the policy, they said existing disease is covered at the time of claim, they said its not covered.

    My company gave me the medical card of United India, they gave me the mediclaim value of Rs. 2 lakhs its not sufficient when I am trying to enhanced the sum assured. My employer said to pay 10% of money from my end hence I dropped it, I think the insurer is providing cover for all the disease.

    I have a corporate policy with United India, I have added my parents also to it. The medical coverage is good but there is one problem, when I go for cashless to the hospitals it was not so easy. I never contacted the customer service. The claim experience was average. They have multiple capping for certain disease.
