How does Mission Indradhanush Operates : Strategy

There are four elements on which Mission Indradhanush operates which are:

  1. Planning and Implementation - During routine immunisation sessions, ensure that there are enough vaccines and providers on hand.  Provide immunisations to children who have not yet received them on construction sites, nomadic sites, urban slums, brick kilns, and difficult-to-reach locations.
  2. Social Mobilization - Engage in effective communication and social mobilisation to increase awareness and demand for immunisation services. Increase community participation in the routine immunisation program by using mass media, middle media, interpersonal communication (IPC), school and youth networks, and companies.
  3. Training Healthcare workers - To ensure high-quality vaccination services, give health professionals and officials the appropriate training in routine immunization activities.
  4. Establishing accountability - Hold district administrations and healthcare systems responsible for executing district task forces to ensure immunisation for all target populations. Furthermore, ensuring the use of concurrent session monitoring data to quickly resolve any implementation gaps.

Mission Indradhanush's mass immunisation initiatives have proven to be highly effective. The Union Health Ministry's data reveals an 83% coverage rate as of November 2018. The goal was to achieve 90% by December 2019.

Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0

For the first time, IMI has reached 50% coverage of children up to five years old with essential vaccinations. This achievement marks a substantial advancement in India's efforts to improve immunization rates, particularly among vulnerable populations. The milestone underscores the effectiveness of IMI's intensified approach, which focuses on targeted vaccination campaigns, outreach to hard-to-reach areas, and enhanced monitoring and coordination. The success of IMI in reaching this milestone highlights the importance of continued investment in immunization programs to protect the health and well-being of children across the country.
