The Add-On features provided are as follows:
Zero Depreciation: Zero Depreciation is an add-on feature in car insurance wherein the insurance company provides complete coverage without depreciation being factored. The insurer will compensate you the entire cost of repair in the event of damage.
Benefits of Zero Depreciation:
- Full coverage when it comes to settlement of claims, without taking into account depreciation.
- Repair and plastic cost would be borne by the insurance company.
Points to remember:
- Policy cost: the cost of policies that have zero depreciation cover is higher than a comprehensive plan since it offers total coverage without taking depreciation into account.
- Fixed annual claims: insurers generally set a limit on the claims that can be filed in a year to prevent policyholders from claiming compensation for every minor scratch. Verify the number of claims you are eligible for and file a claim in case of large amounts.
Exclusions:
- Zero depreciation cover is generally available only for cars less than 3 years old.
Downtime/ Loss of Use Protection: Loss of use protection coverage provides the policy holder with a fixed daily amount to cover his transportation costs by alternate means while the damaged car is either repaired or being replaced.
Benefits of Downtime protection:
- No extra travel cost since your vehicle cannot be used due to damage.
- Travel mode is not compromised.
Points to remember:

There are limits on the amount that will be reimbursed, which are mentioned below:
- Private cars will be reimbursed a maximum of Rs. 500 for a day.
- Reimbursement will be provided for upto 5 days in the case of partial loss claims and upto 15 days for theft or total loss claims.

A reimbursement claim can be made once for total loss or theft and a maximum of thrice for partial loss.
Exclusions:
- This cover can be availed provided the insured vehicle is in the garage for more than 24 hours.
- The insurer will not reimburse for longer than for 5 days in case of repair or 15 days in case or replacement.
Engine and Gear Box Protector: this add-on would cover damages to the internal components of the gear box or engine due to the following:
Water ingression. Any damage arising out of lubricant oil leakage.Benefits of Engine and Gear Box Protector:
- Coverage for damage to internal components.
- No worry of high repair costs in case you drive your vehicle through waterlogged areas.
Points to remember:
- The claim would have to be filed under the “own damage” clause of the policy.
Exclusions:
- The claim does not extend to damage to the internal components like maintenance failure, clutch failure.
- Labor costs
- Cost of repair and replacement of internal parts
- Machining charges
- Compression tests
- Engine cylinder re-boring
Cost of Consumables: this add-on covers the cost of vehicle consumables such as engine oil, brake fluid and clutch fluid, coolant, screws, washers etc if they require replacement due to damage to the vehicle or its insured accessories.
Benefits of Cost of Consumables:
- No extra expense incurred to replace consumables.
Points to remember:
- Claims under this add-on can be filed provided thee claims in Section 1 of the policy can be paid out to the policyholder.
Exclusions:
- Claims can be filed only in case of cost incurred to replace insured accessories.
No Claim Bonus Protection: by opting for this add-on, the policyholder would be given even if a claim is made in the event of an accident. This bonus can be accumulated and then utilised to receive discounts on the premium under “own damage”.
Benefits of No Claim Bonus Protection:
- You can make up to 3 claims a year and still be eligible for your no claim benefit.
- This add-on can be transferred to different vehicles provided the policyholder is the same.
- Premium amounts would be significantly reduced.
Points to remember:
- The 3 claims that can be made to avail of the benefit are those arising out of:
- Windshield glass damage
- Parked vehicle loss due to external means
- Parked vehicle loss due to acts of god like earthquakes, flood.
Exclusions:
- Benefit cannot be availed if any claims excluding the ones listed above are filed.
Emergency Assistance Service Programme
In order to enhance the overall services provided under ‘emergency’, HDFC Ergo provides its customers with an Emergency Assistance Service Programme. This service programme basically helps the policyholder deal with any technical or mechanical breakdown of the vehicle. It also provides assistance in the case of a road accident. Its main objective is to impart a pleasurable driving experience to the customers.

- Duplicate keys
- Battery jump start
- ‘On-site’ minor repairs of the insured vehicle
- Fuel delivery
- Change of tyre (s)
- Emptying of fuel tank
- Removal of the insured vehicle

Return to Invoice
Typically, in case of loss or theft of your vehicle, you receive the Insured Declare Value amount only. However, if you opt for the Return to Invoice option, you can get the differential amount between the IDV and the ex-showroom value of the vehicle. This differential amount will reduce the burden of cost.
Elements Not Covered Under Return to Invoice
- If the vehicle has been recovered within a period of 90 days.
- FIR under theft claim will not be issued by Police Authorities.
Emergency Assistance Wider Cover
This add-on cover essentially helps you in a sticky situation like loss of car keys. It is also applicable in cases of misplacement or theft.
