RBI operates two main modes of electronic fund transfer – NEFT and RTGS. Both these modes require a special code known as the IFSC or Indian Financial System Code that is granted to each bank by RBI to uniquely identify each bank branch.
An example of an IFSC code of Mizuho Corporate Bank is: MHCB0000002. This is the IFSC code of Nariman Point branch of Mizuho Bank. The first four characters represent the bank’s name, the fifth character is by default, for later use and the last six digits serves as a code for the ‘Nariman Point’ branch.
IFSC and MICR codes are needed in order to make a successful NEFT or RTGS money transfer. Mizuho Bank’s IFSC and MICR codes can be found offline as well as online.
Using NEFT and RTGS, customers of Mizuho Bank can transfer money to any beneficiary account of an individual or an organization, anywhere in the country at any time.
NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer):
NEFT is a payment channel run by RBI where money is transferred electronically from a sender’s account to beneficiary account. RBI clears NEFT transactions in batches at pre-decided timings. However, it is important that the beneficiary’s bank belongs to the NEFT network.
NEFT Charges:
Amount | Charge per transaction |
Upto Rs.10,000 | Rs.2.50 |
Rs.10,001 - Rs.1,00,000 | Rs.5 |
Rs.1,00,001 to Rs.2,00,000 | Rs.15 |
Above Rs.2,00,000 | Rs.25 |
RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement):
RTGS is a payment settlement mode which is instantaneous and independent. It means that RTGS transactions are cleared individually and hence, referred to as ‘gross settlement’. RTGS is preferred for high value transactions and the money is remitted in real time, as in as soon as the fund transfer instruction reaches the bank branch of the beneficiary.
RTGS Charges:
Amount | Charge per transaction |
Rs.2,00,000 to Rs.5,00,000 | Rs.25 |
Above Rs.5,00,000 | Rs.50 |
