For those who wish to send money electronically within India, the NEFT and RTGS services are the perfect choice. While demand drafts and cheques are also still popular, NEFT and RTGS are fast overtaking them due to the ease of use and quicker settlement. NEFT or National Electronic Fund Transfer and RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) are both the brainchild of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and were set up to expedite the transfer of funds wirelessly. The services assure security and the quickest fund transfer mode. To make a fund transfer using these services, one has to just enter the details of the recipient’s bank along with the branch IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) code. The bank would then settle the transfer request in a matter of hours. This system does away with the long queues and long waiting periods for cheques to be cleared. Another advantage to using these services is the relatively low clearance charges as compared to services like a demand draft.
The IFSC code is a unique code issued to all bank branches part of the NEFT network. The code helps the RBI keep track of all the online transfers made in the country. It also helps in identification of the originating and the destination banks in a particular transaction.
An IFSC code is an 11 character long alphanumeric string. It contains the name of the bank, a specific number allocated to the bank branch and the numeral “0”. The IFSC code for Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank in Nashik, Nashik district, Maharashtra is JJSB0000019. Here “JJSB” is the acronym for the Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank, the numeral “0” is left blank for future use and “000019” is the number of the particular branch located in Nashik.
Looking for the IFSC and MICR codes of a particular bank branch is a simple process. The bank puts up a list of the NEFT enabled branches on its website. The code for a specific branch can be found printed on the cheque book leaves issued by that branch. Another way to find the IFSC and MICR codes for all bank branches in the country is through websites like BankBazaar. To access them, simply go to the homepage and click on the “Bank IFSC Code” located at the bottom of the page. You will be directed to a page where you have to type in the name of the bank, and select the state, district and branch name. On entering these details, the IFSC and MICR codes will be displayed on the screen.
The Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank’s NEFT and RTGS services are an efficient and convenient way to send money online. They are also safe and the fastest means to do so. The ways you can use these services to transfer funds is given below:
NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer):
The NEFT service is available to Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank customers every Monday to Saturday during banking hours. NEFT is not available on bank holidays or on the second and fourth Saturdays in the month. The transfer requests are processed on the same day in batches on the hour. There are 11 such batches and transactions are cleared in a particular batch depending on the time the request is made. For requests made after the cut off time, or those made on bank holidays, the bank clears them on the following working day.
There is no minimum amount for NEFT transactions. The bank has a ceiling of Rs. 2 lakh for NEFT transactions made from its branches. The bank charges a fee for the services, which are available at all their branches.
RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement):
RTGS services are used to transfer funds using the quickest money transfer mode in the country. The service is completely secure and is guaranteed by the bank. The transactions are settled on a real time basis, which means the money is transferred as soon as the request is processed. RTGS transactions are also “gross” settlements, which means they are cleared on an individual basis as opposed to being grouped and settled. This makes it a faster medium than NEFT. However the minimum amount to be transferred at a time is Rs. 2 lakh. There is no upper limit on these transactions.
The bank provides this service to its customers during banking hours from Monday to Saturday. The service is not available on second and fourth Saturdays or on bank holidays. If the bank receives transaction requests after its RTGS operating hours or on bank holidays, it settles these requests on the following banking day.
The Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank levies a charge for money transfers made to other bank accounts using the RTGS facility. The charges are mentioned at the bank’s branches.
