A code used to transfer funds from one bank to another or between different branches of the same bank, IFSC or Indian Financial System Code is a 11 digit alphanumeric code that is most commonly used to identify a bank and its branches while transferring money through either RTGS or NEFT electronic channels. IFSC is very commonly used in India as a safe and convenient method of identification.
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, IFSC consists of 11 digits and these digits represent the name of the bank and the particular branch. This unique code can be decoded by following the simple guidelines provided below.
For example, let us take the RTGS Head Office branch of KEB Hana Bank in Chennai, whose IFSC code is KOEX0000001. As mentioned in the guidelines above, KOEX refers to the name of the bank which is KEB Hana Bank. The fifth digit is 0 and is a control number. The last six digits is 000001 which refers to the RTGS Head Office branch of the bank. The last six digits vary for every branch.

National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT)
NEFT is one of the most commonly used electronic transfer method systems within the country due to its reliability and security. However, through this method, money is not transferred immediately. But despite of this, it is used quite often. Customers need not to visit the KEB Hana Bank to avail this facility.
Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)
As the name suggests, through the RTGS facility, customers can transfer their money immediately between different branches of the same bank or different banks situated in India and abroad. RTGS is used when the amount to be transferred is quite high. Customers who wish to avail this facility need to visit the KEB Hana Bank.
