State Bank of India released its cardless cash withdrawal facility named YONO Cash in March 2019. It enables users to withdraw cash without using cards from SBI ATMs, thereby improving both convenience and security.
All the SBI account holders can withdraw money from SBI ATMs without a debit card. Instead of inserting a card, users initiate the process of the bank’s mobile app and use a secure reference number and PIN to access cash at the ATM.
This service is a part of SBI’s YONO Cash feature where “YONO” stands for “You Only Need One”. It is the bank’s unified mobile banking platform for all digital transactions.
Step 1: Open the SBI YONO app and log in.
Step 2: Navigate to the “YONO Cash” section and select the withdrawal channel (ATM, POS, or CSP).
Step 3: Enter the amount you want to withdraw and choose your SBI account.
Step 4: Create a YONO Cash PIN for this transaction.
Step 5: A transaction reference number is generated (usually sent by SMS too).
Step 6: Visit a participating ATM and enter the amount, reference number, and PIN to withdraw the cash.
This reference number typically remains valid for a particular set period, so the withdrawal should be completed within this timeframe.
Under Cardless Cash Withdrawal facility, there are predefined limits on how much can be withdrawn in a day and per transaction. For example, users can typically withdraw up to Rs.20,000 per day in multiples of Rs.500 via ATM, in addition to other channels.
State Bank of India has come up with a cardless cash withdrawal facility that allows SBI customers and account holders to withdraw cash from SBI ATMs and other enabled channels without using a debit card.
No, a debit card is not required. The withdrawal is authenticated using a YONO Cash reference number and PIN, making it useful if the debit card is lost, damaged, or unavailable.
The withdrawal limit may vary based on SBI guidelines, but generally customers can withdraw up to Rs.20,000 per day through ATMs.
Yes, it is considered safe as it uses OTP-based authentication and a dynamic PIN for every transaction.
Currently, SBI does not levy additional charges for cardless cash withdrawals.
