SBI Cardless Cash Withdrawal

State Bank of India released its cardless cash withdrawal facility named YONO Cash in March 2019. It enables users to withdraw cash without using cards from SBI ATMs, thereby improving both convenience and security.

What is Cardless Cash Withdrawal?

All the SBI account holders can withdraw money from SBI ATMs without a debit card. Instead of inserting a card, users initiate the process of the bank’s mobile app and use a secure reference number and PIN to access cash at the ATM.

This service is a part of SBI’s YONO Cash feature where “YONO” stands for “You Only Need One”. It is the bank’s unified mobile banking platform for all digital transactions.

Key Features of SBI Cardless Cash Withdrawal

  • Cardless access to money: It lets users withdraw money at participating ATMs without a physical debit card or cash withdrawal slip. The transactions are authenticated via a reference number and PIN generated in the app. The service can be accessed across 16,500 ATMs from SBI Bank.
  • Multiple channels supported: Apart from ATMs, cardless cash service through YONO also works at SBI merchant POS terminals and Customer Service Points (CSPs).
  • Secure transaction: The risk related to traditional cards and their PIN usage is reduced by generating a unique reference number and YONO Cash Pin. This dynamic PIN system limits fraud risk and enhances security.
  • Convenience and 24/7 availability: This service is available 24*7 as users don’t need to visit the branch to initiate a withdrawal request.
  • No additional charges: There are no extra charges to process cardless cash withdrawals.

How to Use the Cardless Cash Facility

Step 1: Open the SBI YONO app and log in.

Step 2: Navigate to the “YONO Cash” section and select the withdrawal channel (ATM, POS, or CSP).

Step 3: Enter the amount you want to withdraw and choose your SBI account.

Step 4: Create a YONO Cash PIN for this transaction.

Step 5: A transaction reference number is generated (usually sent by SMS too).

Step 6: Visit a participating ATM and enter the amount, reference number, and PIN to withdraw the cash.

This reference number typically remains valid for a particular set period, so the withdrawal should be completed within this timeframe.

Under Cardless Cash Withdrawal facility, there are predefined limits on how much can be withdrawn in a day and per transaction. For example, users can typically withdraw up to Rs.20,000 per day in multiples of Rs.500 via ATM, in addition to other channels.
