School Education Shagun Portal

The SE Shagun or School Education Shagun portal was implemented under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed as Ministry of Education in 2020) to enhance the quality of Indian school education system. The purpose of this initiative was to create an integrated platform that unifies all central and state portals and websites under the Department of School Education and Literacy.  The word ‘Shagun’ combines two Hindi words that is ‘Shala’ meaning ‘School’ and ‘Gunvatta’ meaning ‘Quality’. 

Under the SE Shagun portal, the Department launched the ‘ShaGun’ Repository and an online monitoring system to showcase and record innovative practices in elementary education and to ensure monitoring of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

  1. The geographical details about the schools are tracked via GIS (Geographic Information System). 
  1. The portal has dashboards that offers bird’s-eye-view of scheme implementation in various schools. 
  1. The Project Monitoring System helps in monitoring of financial processes such as appraisal of annual plans, sanction issuance, and others.
