Eligiblity for Kayakalp Scheme

To get an award under the Kayakalp Scheme, hospitals must follow certain rules and meet required standards: 

  1. The organization should be a part of the Cleanliness and Infection Control Committee. 
  1. It conducts internal or peer assessments regularly. 
  1. Assessments are based on specific cleanliness and infection control criteria. 
  1. Institutions scoring above 70% in peer assessments are eligible for the next level of evaluation or recognition. 

Award Criteria under Kayakalp Scheme

This scheme gives awards to hospitals and health centres if they fulfil the given below criteria: 

  1. Hospital Maintenance – Keeping the hospital building and surroundings clean and in good condition. 
  1. Preventing Infections – Steps taken to stop the spread of infections. 
  1. Cleanliness and Hygiene – Making sure all areas, like toilets and wards, are clean and tidy. 
  1. Spreading Hygiene Awareness – Teaching staff and patients about good hygiene habits. 
  1. Basic Support Services – Proper working of services like water, electricity, laundry, and food. 
  1. Waste Disposal – Safe handling and removal of all kinds of waste. 

Assessment Process under the Kayakalp Award Scheme 

The assessment process of the scheme includes the following steps: 

  1. After every four months, internal assessments are conducted through standard tools by the facility's own healthcare staff. 
  1. Scores from internal assessments are recorded and submitted to the Chief Medical Officer. 
  1. Hospitals and centres that score more than 70% in internal assessments qualify for peer assessment. 
  1. Peer assessments are conducted at least once a year by staff from other blocks or districts. These assessments help in deciding the award nominations. 
  1. The District Award Nomination Committee reviews peer assessment scores and selects facilities scoring above 70% for nomination.
