HKD to INR
Hong Kong’s official currency is the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). 100 cents are equal to one Hong Kong dollar. The Central Bank and the governmental currency board of the Hong Kong dollar and Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
Three commercial banks have been provided the license to issue banknotes for the circulation of the currency in Hong Kong. The three commercial banks that have been provided the license are Standard Chartered, Bank of China, and HSBC.
The HKD is the world’s ninth most traded currency as of April 2019. Other than Hong Kong, the currency is also used in Macau. In the 19th Century, various currencies such as Chinese coins, Mexican Pesos, Spanish Dollars, and Indian Rupees was used in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Dollar coins were issued in 1863 by London’s Royal Mint. In 1945, the currency was reissued in Hong Kong. From 1972, the value of currency kept changing over the next few years when compared to the dollar. At the moment, the operation of the currency is based on an exchange rate regime.
