What is Aeternity?
Aeternity is a new blockchain technology that is open source in nature. Launched in 2017, it focuses on solving the issues of security, scalability, privacy and transaction speed. Aeternity has developed three elements viz state channels, hybrid Proof of work and Proof of Stake and oracles, that make the blockchain available for mass adoption. A decentralized virtual machine is the key technology behind Aeternity. The Aeternity token is called AE and is used as a unit of account for the resources spent on the platform. Yanislav Malahov is the founder or Aeternity
Features of Aeternity
- Hybrid Proof of work and Proof of Stake: Aeternity uses a hybrid consensus system between the traditional Proof of Work (PoW) and the Proof of Stake (PoS).
- State Channels: It is possible to execute smart contracts off-chain with the help of state channels. The smart contract code gets enforced by the blockchain, only in case of a disagreement between the contracting parties.
- Unique Governance: As the Aternity platform is governed by its stakeholders, it offers an ability to miners and token-holders who have a stake in the blockchain to make decisions together on proposed changes.
