  • How to update HDFC Credit Card KYC Documents

Ever since the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that every banking and investment customer should comply with the Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, updating the KYC details has become a prerequisite for all banking activities.

Through the KYC procedure, banks and other financial institutions obtain all the information regarding the customer’s identity and address which in turn help them to prevent misuse of banking services. The KYC collection not only happens during the opening of a banking service but will be done periodically to update the details with the latest customer information.

KYC is mandatory during the following banking activities:

    • When opening a new bank account
    • While availing a bank loan, credit card, prepaid card or smart card
    • When applying for a bank locker
    • While carrying out financial transactions
    • For remittances in India and abroad
    • When there is a change in key account holders
    • When the bank or the issuing institution wants to update their records. This is called re-KYC
