    Originally incorporated as Jindal Tractebel Power Company Ltd. in March 1990 as a joint venture between JSW Steel Limited and Tractebel, S.A., Belgium. In 2002, the company’s name was changed to Jindal Thermal Power Company Ltd., it was further changed to JSW Energy Ltd. in 2005. In 2007, the company received the award of 260MW Kuther Hydro Electric project. While the company signed a MoU to set up a thermal power plant in the Kingdom of Swaziland, in 2007, it secured an order from Power Company of Karnataka Ltd. for the supply of 650MW.
