  3. The total business of the bank amounted to Rs.3,05,839 crore in FY18 while it was Rs.3,32,940 crore in FY17.
  4. Investments of the bank totalled up to Rs.72,590 crore in FY18 while it was Rs.74,768 crore in FY17.
  5. Interest income decreased to Rs.14,020 crore in FY18 from Rs.16,326 crore in FY17.
  6. Interest expenditure decreased from Rs.12,509 crore in FY17 to Rs.10,895 crore in FY18.
  7. Net interest income of the bank decreased from Rs.3,817 crore in FY17 to Rs.3,125 crore in FY18.
  8. The operating profit decreased from Rs.2,926 crore in FY17 to Rs.1,334 crore in FY18.
  9. The bank showed a loss of Rs.1,851 crore in FY17 and a loss of Rs.4,436 crore in FY18.

Company Information

The bank was founded in the year 1943. Since then, the bank has come a long way with 49 zonal offices all over the country. The bank has even expanded internationally. The bank offers services like consumer banking, corporate banking, insurance, investment banking, mortgage loans, wealth management and private banking.

History of the Company

The UCO Bank is headquartered in Kolkata. It was formerly known as United Commercial Bank. It was the brainchild of Ghanshyam Das Birla who was an industrialist in India. The initial paid-up capital of the bank was Rs. 1 crore. When the bank was established, 14 branches were opened at the simultaneously across the country. After the Second World War, the bank opened branches in Rangoon, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and Malaysia. In the year 1967, Jalpaiguri Banking and Trading Corporation transferred all its assets and liabilities to the United Commercial Bank in what was a voluntary transfer. In the year 1969, the Government of India nationalised the bank. In the year 1985, the United Commercial Bank was renamed as UCO Bank. As of 2012, the government holds an 84% stake in the bank. The bank now has more than 4,000 branches.

He has held a number of critical positions in the Oriental Bank of Commerce before joining Dena Bank.
