Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP)

The Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) is a government initiative launched to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among the youth. The objective of this programme is to create sustainable employment opportunities by helping individuals establish their own micro and small enterprises across various sectors.  

Objectives of the CMEGP Scheme

The objectives of CMEGP scheme are as given below: 

  1. The main objective of CMEGP is to promote small enterprises and generate employment opportunities. 
  1. Through this initiative, the government has provided support setup to approximately 1 lakh micro and small enterprises in Maharashtra, over the duration of five years, creating around 10 lakh job opportunities.

  1. This scheme also aims to provide startup assistance to educated unemployed individuals in the country. 
  1. Another objective of this scheme is to promote entrepreneurship and support women, minority groups, ex-servicemen, and differently abled individuals. 

Key Features of CMEGP Scheme: 

The key features of CMEGP are as given below: 

  1. The CMEGP scheme offers funds up to Rs.50 lakh for manufacturing units and Rs.20 lakh for service or agri-based enterprises. 
  1. This scheme also offers subsidies ranging between 15% to 35% of the project cost as per the urban or rural location requirement, and special or general category. 
  1. Through this scheme, individuals can also avail themselves of collateral-free loans up to Rs.10 lakhs. You may be required to submit collateral for a higher amount. 
  1. As a beneficiary, your own contribution should be between 5% to 10%, with the balance financed through accredited banks. 
  1. The repayment tenure for loans availed under this scheme is 36 to 84 months, with a six-month moratorium period before starting EMIs. 

Eligibility Criteria for CMEGP Scheme: 

The eligibility criteria for CMEGP scheme are as given below: 

  1. The applicant should be a domicile and resident of Maharashtra. 
  1. The applicant should be aged between 18 years and 45 years. 
  1. For special category applicants such as SC, ST, women, ex-servicemen, and differently abled individuals, the age criteria are relaxed by five years. 
  1. The applicant should be at least 7th standard pass for projects valued more than Rs.10 lakh and at least 10th standard pass for projects valued more than Rs.25 lakh. 
  1. The applicant should not have availed themselves of any benefits from previous self-employment schemes such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY), Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP), or any other similar government-backed scheme. 
  1. Only one person from a family can submit the application.

How to Apply for the CMEGP Scheme? 

Follow the steps given below to apply for the CMEGP scheme: 

Step 1: You need to visit the official CMEGP website https://maha-cmegp.gov.in/homepage  

Step 2: Click on the option ‘Application form for Individual’ or ‘Application form for Non-Individual'. 

Step 3: Fill in the required details like Name, Aadhaar card number, etc. 

Step 4: Upload the required documents like Aadhaar card, education proof, project summary, etc. 

Step 5: Submit the application. 

Step 6: Your application will be reviewed by the district-level committee and if approved, will be forwarded to banks. 

Step 7: If you are selected, then you will undergo Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training, followed by sanction of loan, subsidy processing by state and banks.
