Quarantine rules have been removed for those who have received both doses of the Covishield vaccine. The country does not require a negative RT-PCR result either. However, it may still be required by certain airlines before boarding. However, direct flights are not available as the two countries have not established an air bubble till now. This requires travelers from India to transit via Amsterdam or Paris in order to visit Switzerland. There may still be restrictions for Indian travelers who wish to travel from Switzerland to other countries in the European Union (EU). This is because the Covishield vaccine manufactured in India by Serum Institute has not been included in the EU Green Pass list of vaccines though it has been approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO). For application of visas, booking of appointments has to be done prior. The service fee for visa applications has been increased on a temporary basis by Switzerland to account for additional expenses related to the pandemic. Visa applications can be submitted all over India but will be processed within 7 to 10 working days at the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi. Visa application is recommended 6 months prior to travel to the Schengen states.
