    State Bank of Mysore offers Kisan Credit Card Schemes to provide financial assistance to farmers to boost crop production and marketing. The scheme also provides finance for personal consumption requirements, maintenance and repairs of agricultural equipment and machinery and related activities. The Bank offers two Kisan Cards which are the Kisan Credit Card and the Kisan Gold Card. The Gold Card is a term loan that can be obtained if you have maintained a good repayment history for 2 years on the Kisan Credit Card.

    With the SBM Credit Card Schemes, farmers can acquire credit to meet expenses for agricultural and allied activities. Credit is also available for consumption needs of the farmer and his household.

    Loan amount:

    The loan amount sanctioned depends on your choice of credit card.

    • For the Kisan Credit Card Scheme, the loan quantum is determined based on the cropping pattern, operational land holding, and scale of finance. 10% is allocated towards consumption. For the first year, 20% is allocated towards maintenance that includes machinery, agricultural assets and electricity. Limits will be enhanced by 10% every year.
    • For the Kisan Gold Card Scheme, the loan amount is calculated as 5 times your annual income or 60% of the land mortgage. A maximum of Rs. 10 lakhs is granted. Loans taken for consumption purposes cannot exceed 40% of the total loan limit.


    • There is no separate margin requirements on the Kisan Credit Card.
    • 20% and 30% is fixed as the margin required on the Kisan Gold Card.


    • Under the Kisan Gold Card Scheme, each card has a different repayment schedule. However, the maximum loan period is 6 or 7 years.
    • Under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme, the loan is treated as revolving finance. The card is valid for 5 years but subject to annual reviews. Repayment is scheduled during the time of harvest and produce marketing. All withdrawals should be repaid within 12 months.


    • The Kisan Credit Cardholders will receive a Smart Card. Under this scheme, borrowers can make any number of withdrawals up to the credit limit. An annual credit limit may be fixed based on projected requirements and repayment. Withdrawals can be made via the smart card at ATMs or withdrawal slips.
    • The SBM Kisan Gold Card Scheme is a onetime loan. It is treated as an Agricultural Term Loan.

    Types of State Bank of Mysore Kisan Cards:

    1. Kisan Credit Card

      The purpose of this credit card is to provide adequate cash to farmers to meet regular and consumption expenses. This scheme follows the same terms as applicable to Agricultural Advances. The loan amount is determined based on the requirements for the entire annual crop production. Farmers will receive a debit card which can be used to make withdrawals. The card is valid for 5 years, subject to annual review. This scheme functions on the basis of revolving credit wherein withdrawals should be repaid in a year.

    2. Kisan Gold Card

      This scheme offered by SBM is intended to help farmers purchase agricultural assets, bullock carts, and so on. Farmers can also use the credit for land development purpose and repairs to machinery. Consumption credit it is also granted for household needs including education and marriage. The interest rates offered on these loans are the same as agricultural term loans. This credit facility is sanctioned in addition to the Kisan Credit Card, therefore it is treated as an Agricultural Term Loan. Loans taken for consumption purposes are treated as Clean Term Loans.
